Players Dallas Has Shown Interest In - 2017

Which speaks to the unreliability of using 40 times as an predictor of DE talent.
IMO 40 time is really only truly vital for deep ball WR's, CB's( to cover those deep ball WR's) and KR's (who 9.5 times out of 10 are WR's or CB's)

And not for nothing, Ive seen Larry Fitzgerald with his 4.7 combine speed, smoke some DB's on go routes. So even then its not the end all be all

•Adam Bisnowaty, OT, Pittsburgh (SR)
• Corey Clement, RB, Wisconsin (SR)
• Amara Darboh, WR, Michigan (SR)
• Dion Dawkins, OT, Temple (SR)
• Ben Gedeon, ILB, Michigan (SR)
• Jaleel Johnson, DT/3-4DE/NT, Iowa (SR)
• Jourdan Lewis, CB, Michigan (SR)
• Larry Ogunjobi, DT, Charlotte (SR)
• Carroll Phillips, DE/3-4OLB/OLB, Illinois (SR)
• Eddie Vanderdoes, DT/3-4DE/NT, UCLA (SR)
Not much of a template for what we are looking for as of yet. Although 4 of 10 on the DL is pointing in that direction.

And thank you for collecting up the names

A more ball hawking safety is Tedric Thompson who got 16 PBU's and 7 INT's last year. :omg:

I especially like the way he high points the ball when it comes his way.

We could sure use a lot more of that ball hawking attitude at both safety positions.

I would like to see more of a BALL HAWK on the defense. We could use a Safety and a CB. Desmond King also comes to mind as someone that could be a great addition to the DB's. I don't know if he will be there in the 2nd round...

Ryan Anderson ER/LB/DE Alabama

TALENT: ROUND 1

STRENGTHS

Ryan plays football like a junk yard dog just looking to bite someone in the... He has an excellent burst off the ball. Uses quickness, techniques and football intelligence to gain advantage. Despite being a bit undersized, he does an excellent job against bigger players when defending against the run. Ryan is an instinctive football player with leadership skills. He has just enough athletic talent to drop off the line and defend screens. And defends sweeps to his side excellently. If you're going to run a sweep to his side, you'd better pull more than 1 OLman or he'll stop you at the LOS. He has quick feet, and unusually long arms, which allow him to shed blocks. You'll find better athletes than Ryan playing his position in this draft, but you won't find any that plays the position better than Ryan.

CONCERNS
DMV arrest. The domestic violence arrest was a “she kicked my car so I kicked her car”. Some will say where there is smoke there is fire, some will say it was just an anomaly. I think Ryan got a taste of what could have been worse. Hopefully… it was a learning experience for him.Already near his athletic ceiling. Won't get much better athletically. There is not much room for improvement except in experience, instincts and getting stronger. That goes a long way with me personally.

BOTTOM LINE
Ryan reminds me a lot of Patriots Rob Ninkovich. He is not as strong but he gets the most out of his athletic talents and that along with his effort on every play will make Ryan as valuable to his team’s defense as Ninkovich is to the Patriots. Ryan is a 3/4 OLB/DE and that means unless he can prove in workouts that he has the athletic talent to play in any style of defense not all teams will rate him the same.

Agreed, but for accuracy's sake, Fitzgerald never ran at the combine, but he did run a 4.48 at his Pro Day FWIW.

Personally, I would classify Ryan Anderson kicking his girlfriend's car as domestic violence. I'm more concern about whether he's a fit in our defense since he seems to be a 3/4 player.

That's why precise route running is so, so, so important. If you can make a DB make even a half mis-step you've just turned his 4.3 40 into a 4.7 40 in the blink of an eye. Michael Irvin understood this and Jerry Rice made a GOAT career out of it.

Mods can you consolidate all the players the Cowboys are interested in and add it to the OP? I don't want to look through each page in this thread.

should be wouldn't classify. :(

I don't think we need a safety at all this draft. We have way more pressing issues than safety. I'd wait for udfa safety group

If we do not sign either Church or Wilcox back, safety is a pretty big need unless you think Jeff Heath and Kevon Frazier are solutions.

Too late. You already classified it.

I think you're way off here. Couldn't disagree more.

Sounds more like vandalism and a maturity issue to me.

Poor baby crying over a girl.

In this day and age, you or I could be arrested for and charged with D.V. by merely walking past the girlfriend/wife/serving wench, while she's sitting on the couch watching the lifetime channel and you ripping off a loud raspy rat(fart) and she calls the cops emotionally shaken ,,, you bet your arse you'll be charged
