Exited about:

Bradie James - Wasn't utilized as a blitzer until halfway through last season and he became a pass rush threat with 8 sacks. He's moving around more in the off-season and will help offset the loss of Greg Ellis.

Patrick Crayton, Miles Austin & Sam Hurd - All 3 receivers are ready to be counted upon and help erase the shadow of Terrell Owens.

Gerald Sensabaugh - What, a strong safety with coverage skills in Big D again? Alright, alright, alright!

Mike Jenkins & Orlando Scandrick - Our young corners allow for defensive flexibility (along with Sensabaugh), meaning we can mix it up with man or zone whenever we want.

Rice & Beans - Our double tight end set has almost limitless potential with so many possible formation looks using the same personnel.

A starting left guard not named Cory Procter - Kyle Kosier will probably get his job back due to his familiarity with the other starters, but I also think Montrae Holland is a good one when in shape.

Brandon Williams - My gut thinks he could be way better than people expect. Wade was campaigning for him on draft day, and Ratliff said in a Grizz interview that Williams already stands out and could be great.

I think Brandon Williams can excel as our third outside 'backer and the rotation may well be four deep with fellow rookie Victor Butler.

I remember an article a while back that criticized Williams for coming out a year early due to being a potential first rounder in '10.

The same piece also questioned the Cowboys for getting him in the fourth round.

Go figure.

Miles Austin...i think he will explode

Terence Newman.....now that we have possibly great coverage...all over the field at the other Corner Positions, and SS position, theres nobody to expose, which = more passes to Newman, and more big plays

Gerald-i think he will make probowl

Roy Williams, i think he will explode as well...and be unstoppable

but i am more excited about Miles, if we get the Miles we had in preseason, last year...oh boy

There's really nothing to look forward to for this season.

I know I'm wasting my time here but WTH.

This may cheer you up/offer a ray of hope.

Go make yourself a list of the NFL's top 10 teams as you see it.

Then start with your 6th ranked team and ask your self these questions:
1) Are they more talented than the Cowboys?
2) Do they have better coaching?

It's these type threads that best put things in their proper prospective.

There is no logical reason for this fan base to not be optimistic for 2009.

We have too many good proven players and too many young players on the upswing.

I've seen plenty of lousy, untalented Cowboy teams that offer little hope for the upcoming season.

This is not one of them.

I have a few questions for the 9-7 crowd who see little chance this team can make a 4 game improvement in 2009.

How much less likely was it for the 2007 Cowboys to up thier win total by 4 games?
Did the 2007 Cowboys have more or fewer question marks than this 2009 team?

Romo - To me, this is a make or break year for Tony and I think he'll respond well - the changes he needs to make are relatively minor but can lead to ungodly numbers.

Nope, he gets a disproportionate amount of blame for late late season failure, just like most QBs. With his contract he isnt going anywhere. I dont think he has been anymore of the reason for late season failures than anybody else.

I'm most excited about our additions to the secondary.

Jenkins - demonstrated more than enough ability as a rookie. Really liked what Wade had to say about him. Has long arms to jam receivers and great makeup speed.
Scandrick - may be a better player than Jenkins. Certainly different and more suited to the slot.
BTW, just something for you conspiracy buffs to consider. Scandrick being a better slot guy, doesn't hurt his chances to start. There's no rule that says he can't start and move to play the slot in the nickle. Newman has done it for years. If Jenkins wins the starting role, it's only because the staff thinks he's better.
Sensabaugh - I'm just going off what Wade had said. But I think its safe to assume he knows defenders well enough. He's enthused with his coverage ability and that's enough for me. If he hadn't demonstrated this, I don't think the Star position talk with Scandrick would've stopped.

Overall, this is a huge increase in talent and speed for the secondary. The year over year improvement of secondary MAY have is reminiscent of 1992. If you remember the secondary was the real weak spot of the 1991 team. The addition of Smith, Everett and Woodson in 1992 was huge.

besides the obvious Felix Jones answer, I'm going to say Roy Williams

I expect for him to make a ton of spectacular catches this year

yeah, yeah, yeah, he doesn't get much separation, but I don't see many #1 WRs who do, as Ds scheme to make sure that doesn't ever happen, I just hope Romo can rely on Roy, and just throw him the ball and let him get it

I'm excited about Buehler because no longer will kickoffs fall at the 25 or out of bounds. He'll remind me what a toucback is again. I don't even remember what one looks like.
