Playoff odds

the Vikings are most likely gonna be resting players in week 17.

I'll be suprised if Philly loses to either Denver or NY.

So you see the Giants losing to the Eagles, then running the table, and the Eagles winning the next three before losing to us?

I got a great idea.

How about the Cowboys take care of their own ****ing business for once and we dont need to worry about what anyone else does!

It makes me sick sitting here watching everyone try and predict what other teams have to lose or win to help our sorry *** get into the playoff's.

Bottom line, Cowboys grow a pair and man up in December it wont matter what the other 31 teams do.

Everyone wants a gift, no one wants to earn it.

Not everyone. Dallas controls their own destiny we win games we make the post season period. Dallas has no control over what any other team does on what they do.

has nothing to do with a gift, you get in either by winning yourself or winning and the other teams losing or the other teams losing.

There ya have it. Simple as that.

Nothing else matters. Take care of that and dont leave your destiny in the hands of others.

At least we have a zero % chance at getting the first overall pick in next Aprils draft. Reading some of the posts the last couple of days I'm a little surprised.

Since I know no one here would be content with just making the playoffs and being 1 & done... It seems the more important stats is: what are the odds on us getting a playoff win?

Looking at Football Outsiders' percentages, I'd say their projection is about 39 percent that we'll win at least one playoff game.

Using their percentages, let's look at what would happen if the rest of this season were played 1,000 times. Here are their projections for our ultimate finish --

39 times we'd win the Super Bowl
40 times we'd lose the Super Bowl
102 times we'd lose the NFC title game (79 times we'd win it)
581 times we'd lose in either the first or second round
238 times we'd miss the playoffs (772 times we'd make it)

If we play in the Super Bowl, they have us with a 49.4 percent chance of winning it. If we play in the NFC title game, they have us with a 43.6 percent chance of winning it. So they have us winning a little less than half the time in the latter rounds of the playoffs. If that was true in the early rounds, they'd have us with about a 37 or 38 percent chance of winning at least one playoff game. However, they have us more likely to be at home for our first playoff game than to be on the road (54.8 percent chance of being at home/45.2 percent chance of being on the road). So out of our 772 playoff appearances, we'd have a home playoff game 423 times and be on the road 349 times. If they give the higher-seeded home team, say, a 54 percent chance of winning, we would win our first playoff game 389 times. So our chances of winning at least one playoff game would be 38.9 percent.

The Eagles are not good by any means. I expect a win and for them to lose against the Broncos.

Then you think we'll beat either the Saints or Chargers?

Maybe I'm just way off, but I dont see us making the playoffs unless we win the division.

I watched them play the Commanders and Bears. Unfortunately, Campbell and Cutler weren't in the business of winning the game on those days.

I don't know man. I don't see us beating the Saints in New Orleans but think it's possible. I'm not writing that game down as a loss like many are but I wouldn't bet on us. I think with the Chargers being so banged up on defense we should beat them but don't know if they will. our team is so inconsistent it's harder to make predictions about them than other teams.

Uh, ok so they bad bad games against the Skins and Bears?

We had a bad game against the Skins and Chiefs. The Eagles are a very good team, regardless if they dont play perfect every week.

Has there ever been a time in NFL history post-realignment where three teams in the same division have finished 10-6 or better?

The 2007 AFC South had a 13-3 team, an 11-5 team, a 10-6 team and an 8-8 team.

And there have been only seven seasons since realignment. It happened plenty of times before that.

With one loss, Minnesota will have no choice but to play their starters in week 17. The Cards have the tiebreaker and have a very easy stretch run. So one loss by the Vikes, and the Cards will pressure them into playing their starters.

And I'm sure that you were suprised when they lost to the Raiders too right?
Or how about the Chiefs, and Raiders both beating the Steelers? Nothing is a gimme... They will lose one... I'd say anyone one of the three teams they play can beat them! SF is no slouch, they are not great by any means... but if they look past them, they can jump up and bite them...

you are way off.

the nfceast is certain to get more than 1 team in.

All it takes is one pass at Adam's presentation and 3 different sites provide that 10-6 is very likely to get you in. Arguing with someone who swears a magic bean will appear keeping Dallas out of the playoffs is futile.

Dallas needs to win this week for the mental boost and the fact it is a home game. After that beat Washington and even with a loss to New Orleans they likely play Philly at home for the NFCE title or to knock Philly OUT of the playoffs which would be sweet, sweet irony.
