Playoff Seedings and Scenarios

So basically if the Packers self destruct the #1 and #2 seed can be the cowboys and giants? I am sure the lower seeds have to always play the highest seeds. The higher seed has that advantage of always playing the "easier" (less ranked) teams.

No. If the Cowboys win the East the Giants can do nothing but get a wild card.

Giants can't be #2

I don't know about everyone else, but I would really like another crack at Seattle.

But if a "true wildcard" team like the Giants (let's say they finish 11-5) beats a division champ like the Hawks (say they finsih 10-6) in the first round and in the other game the 10-6 division champ Bucs beat the 9-7 wildcard Lions, do we play the Giants or the Bucs in the divisional round? Assuming we are the #1 seed?

The Giants are the last team I'd want to play in the second round.

Are wildcard teams always seeded 5th and 6th?

Actually, I think I would play the Giants over the Skins for the third time.

The Giants because they would be the lower seed since they are the wildcard team and the Bucs are division winners even though the Giants would have the better record.

We would play the Giants. Assuming we are the #1 seed we will always play the lowest seed. Record does not matter at all.

The bracket is wrong. GB would not get the winner of the Lions and Seattle unless the hawks won. If the Lions won Dallas would play the lions. Dallas will get the team with the worst record.

Yes, but switching GB & Dallas would be equally wrong. Obviously the bracket assumes #3 (at home) beats #6, which is reasonable.

Yeah I know. I was just letting the people know who doenst know the playoff system know. If yoiu look at the braket and you dont know how it works it would lead you to believe the Cowboys would play the winner out TB and NY.

If Dallas is # 1, you need to root for Seattle to slip to #4, because #1 cannot host #3 (unless it is in the NFC Championship game). Likewise, #2 cannot host #6 in round 2.

I'd say that Tampa and Seattle would be the 3-4 seeds with NYG and Det/Wash getting the wild card. Quite frankly, I'd rather play TB or Seattle than one of our division rivals. Not because I don't think we can't beat them obviously, but the familiarity would hurt us more so in those matchups. I think we match up better with those 2 teams as well.

Personally, I think Arizona will get one of the Wild Cards. Check out their schedule. It's very, very favorable and they can put some points on the board. Giants and Cards get the wild cards. Detroit's remaining schedule is brutal. Washington just sucks.

Not to mention the fact that Arizona beat Detroit and would have a tie-breaker over them.

Washington has tie breakers over both however.

Yea, but personally I don't think Washington is realistically in the playoff picture. Their remaining schedule is much tougher than Arizona's. Arizona has four home games left against San Francisco, Cleveland, Atlanta, and St. Louis. They play Seattle and New Orleans on the road. Washington plays Tampa, the Giants, and Minnesota on the road. They have Buffalo, Chicago, and us at home. Advantage Cardinals.

In that case, I really hope the division champs beat the wildcards, because I do not want to play the Giants or Skins 3 times this season.
