Playoffs

Why crap on the guy? Sure it is unlikely but who figured the Chargers would get in two years ago, or the Commanders when they were 5-6 and then won their last 5

Eagles lose 2 of 4 that are not against us...LOL

that sounds A LOT better than the Eagles have to lose 4 of their last 6...which is essentially what you said, given that #1 is that we have to run the table..

Eagles losing 4 of their last 6 does not sound likely at all..

You can't have it both ways, goofball. #1 is "we win out". I followed that up saying that was the longshot. So #2 is the Eagles lose 2 of 4. That is NOT a longshot. That's about 30%, imo.

You want to rewrite the list?

1. Dallas wins 4 games not including Eagles.
2. Eagles lose 4 of 6, including games against us.
3. Giants go 3-3.

There, does that make you feel better? LOL

What point were you even making?

The one's you are talking to aren't crapping on me, they are just confused.

I pointed out facts followed by opinions of probability. I followed up with posts that show that I am under no illusions of the unlikelyhood of it all.

There are a lot of not-very-smart-people on this forum. That is all.

The point I am making is that the eagles will not lose 4 of their last 6...period. No matter how you dice it up. Won't happen. Even if we sweep Philly it won't happen. That's what I am saying.

I've seen several threads about the probability of us making the playoffs and how minute it is. It really comes down to 3 things:

1. Run the table
2. Eagles lose 2 of their 4 games that are not against us.
3. Giants finish 3-3.

#1 is the long-shot. But #2 and #3 are not long shots. The Giants are without Hicks for the next 3 games. And, bottom line any team in the league can go 2-2 or 3-3, so #2 and #3 are definitely within the realm of possibility.

If we can run the table, I put our chances of the division at about 30%. Not bad compared with "no chance in hell".

The injury to Nicks makes the Giants scenario possible.

The Eagles scenario is much more unlikely barring an injury to Vick.

The Cowboys scenario is by far the most unlikely IMO.

Heck, I thought there was no way we would start the season 1-7, but it happened. So, there's always a sliver of hope.

Hey, remember, they were crowning the Giants just a couple weeks ago as the best team in the NFC. Now their QB is fumbling games away trying to go down after a first down.

Haha, good point.

Well, I think it much less likely that we win our final 6 than the Eagles going 2-4, with 2 losses to us.

Teams collapse at the end of the season ALL THE TIME.

Every year its the same thing around the end of November -- people saying that you'll have to be 10-6 to go to the playoffs, "even 11-5 might not get you in", blah blah blah -- such and such a team isn't going to lose anymore, blah blah blah - and every year, just like clockwork, a handful of teams fall off the cliff right when everyone thought they were unstoppable. Every year teams get in with 9-7 records.

IN FACT, I believe Philly had won 5 IN A ROW in 2009 right before they lost to us week 17 AND 18. Hmmmmm.

I'll end this playoff nonsense now. With the exception of the NFC west 10 wins may not get you in the playoffs in the NFC this year. Let that sink in for a bit.
I think that's why he spelled out a (albeit VERY HIGHLY unlikely) scenario where we win our division at 9-7. Then all other records outside of the NFC East are meaningless.

I did just look at the eagles schudule, and it IS pretty tough. But the way they're playing it's hard to imagine them losing 2, let alone 4 (with 2 of those having to be vs us).

:laugh2: Nice....

I think winning the division is the only possibility. To get a wild card would mean that 2 of these teams would have to collapse and finish at 9-7: NO, Atlanta, Tampa Bay. Chicago would have to finish at 8-8 due to their win over us. And the Giants or Philthy would have to totally collapse as well.
I think the giants going 9-7 is a possibility. But unless Vick is injured I do not see the Eagles dropping 4 of their last 6 games- even if we sweep them they have to lose two others.
So honestly I think Jerruh waited one week too long to fire Wade.

we need to get past the nxt 2 games b4 we can really start thinking bout playoffs

Did you even read the OP?

He's making the same point as I have in previous threads.

THIS TEAM HAS SOMETHING TO PLAY FOR.

IF it wins out, there is a legit chance to make the playoffs.

Every time this topic comes up the nay sayers start with "we need two many unlikely things to happen".......

Once it's explained how those other things are not so unlikely, we get back to "well this team will never win out"

No ****! Even I don't think that happens.

But it all goes back to the original point of at least trying.

I read it, but im a realist. The bottom line is their are 3 teams ahead of us in our division, 2 ahead in the NFC north which have 7-3 records and have already beaten us. 3 teams are ahead of us in the NFC south, the worst record is 7-3, and the NFC west division winner. That's 9 teams ahead of us.

I just don't see it. I said it when Garrett was hired wins and losses are irrelevant. I wanted to see a change in attitude and effort. If the wins come ill be happy, but im not going to get sucked into this playoff talk because weve won 2 games.

We still have games with the saints, at indy, and the eagles twice.

Also, this team has plenty to play for, it's called THERE JOBS!!!.

I think the full video is needed.

I say get to 7-7 and then lets talk.

Both are a longshot but getting to 5-7 would make the last 4 doable.

Romo has to think about coming back for December too imo if we get to 5-7.

We all know what comes next
