Playoffs

I've seen several threads about the probability of us making the playoffs and how minute it is. It really comes down to 3 things:

1. Run the table
2. Eagles lose 2 of their 4 games that are not against us.
3. Giants finish 3-3.

#1 is the long-shot. But #2 and #3 are not long shots. The Giants are without Hicks for the next 3 games. And, bottom line any team in the league can go 2-2 or 3-3, so #2 and #3 are definitely within the realm of possibility.

If we can run the table, I put our chances of the division at about 30%. Not bad compared with "no chance in hell".

Strangers things have happened. :D

Not really thinking about it the possibility but hey if we can get to 7-7 with 2 games to go I'll be taking a much closer look at the chances we may have.

Until then I just want to see this team playing quality football.

I'll end this playoff nonsense now. With the exception of the NFC west 10 wins may not get you in the playoffs in the NFC this year. Let that sink in for a bit.

9-7 may not make it given the tie breakers we would lose vs Chicago and GB. However until the league says there is no chance then there is hope even if it is the smallest of hopes.

Last time I checked hope is free of charge. :laugh2:

Ok, ...letting your unfounded opinion sink it...waiting, waiting....waiting...

Nope, didn't really change anything about the ideas in my original post.

I could see #3 on your list coming to fruition, but #'s 1 and 2 are real long shots. Basically the egirls would have to collapse for us to get into the playoffs. I don't see that happeing, sad to say.:(

Given that our odds of running the table are probably "no chance in hell" and 30% of "no chance in hell" is still "no chance in hell", then I would probably tend to agree with you.

Well, if we sweep them, then their odds of "collapsing" - if that's what you call it - are much greater.

We need the Bears and Vikings to beat them, that's our best hope

Well if we sweep them and that is a very big if, they would still have to lose 2 of there remaining 4 games. It still is possible I guess, but I can't see the egirls falling apart like that. That would mean going 2-4 in there last 6 games. I just don't see it happeing.

Eagles lose 2 of 4 that are not against us...LOL

that sounds A LOT better than the Eagles have to lose 4 of their last 6...which is essentially what you said, given that #1 is that we have to run the table..

Eagles losing 4 of their last 6 does not sound likely at all..

I'm not paying anything, hope is free. :D

I'm not blind I clearly understand the situation the Cowboys are in and even if they pulled off the 9-7 which is going to be extremely difficult so many other things would have to fall our way. Having said that until the league says we are out of it then a chance remains.

Did you even read the OP?

He's making the same point as I have in previous threads.

THIS TEAM HAS SOMETHING TO PLAY FOR.

IF it wins out, there is a legit chance to make the playoffs.

Every time this topic comes up the nay sayers start with "we need two many unlikely things to happen".......

Once it's explained how those other things are not so unlikely, we get back to "well this team will never win out"

No ****! Even I don't think that happens.

But it all goes back to the original point of at least trying.

No they need to lose 3 of their next 5 for us to have control of our own destiny going into week 17.
