I'm clueless when it comes to video games console. My kids want one for ******mas. I don't know which one to get or which one is most popular.

Can you give me your opinion on which one to go after.

Ages 9 &5. I pretty sure I would enjoy it as well.

I think WII is going to go under since ps3 and Xbox caught on with their gimmicks. PS3 have more simple controls and fun games so I would go with that. WII has more kid friendly games tho :)

XBOX fail 54.2% of the time. Another 41.2% fail again after being repaired!!!

PS3's fail 10.6% of the time and Wii's fail 6.8% of the time.

As for games, XBOX > PS3 > Wii.

By far, IMO PS3 is the best deal. It also acts as a BluRay player which is a big bonus since BluRay is the format that won out over HDDVD that comes in Xbox. A 10% failure rate but with far better games than the Wii make it a deal. A 50+% failure rate for the Xbox makes it a HELL NO. Especially since another 41% fail a second time.

Xbox does have an edge in games, not it's no where near the edge that PS3 has over Wii.

I would recommend you go with the XBOX just for the online gaming but seeing how your kids are 9 and 5 I am politely asking you to get a PS3 so there are a couple less small children who can kick my *** and tell me about it.

I agree with this whole post. As it stands, Wii has more kid friendly games but with both XBox and PS3 coming out with their Kinect and Move those platforms will come out with more games promoting that obviously.

I've always been a PS3 guy, mine has never failed on me unlike a lot of my friends' Xbox's.

Id go with PS3.

For kids that age I'd personally go with a Wii. I just feel it's a much better console for kids.

My kids have one.

I have a XBox 360 for myself.

But for kids I'd go with the Wii.

How much of your kids worlds revolve around Mario? If the answer is "Not at all", then you should go with X-Box or PS III. Currently, my six year old and all his friends in the neighborhood play Mario games on Wii and DS, so I am stuck with Wii until they either get a little older or the other systems get more kid friendly games that will overthrow the neighborhood Mario craze.

I owned a 360. But after having 4 fail on me in about 6 months (3 ring death) I got a PS3. It too failed (yellow light death) but after 2 years. Got another PS3 since then and so far so good. Got my gf a Wii, its lasting so far too.

We have all the systems in our house. My son has a Wii and PS3 in his room. He is a GIANT fan of Mario and Kirby so that is pretty much all he plays. He really go into Little Big Planet on the PS3 but since aceing all of the levels, he stopped playing and is waiting on LBP2 due out in January.

Kids = Wii

Big Kids = 360

I recently got a 360 and even though Live is pay/play, I love it. The videos and netflix off the Live network is 100x faster than the PS3.

Im a big fan of the 360 again. If you go the 360 route get the Kinect limited edition one for 399.99.

You won't be sorry.

I've had an Xbox for 1.5 yrs without any problems but I only play for a couple of hours at a time.

Wii is probably the best choice for that age. Nintendo has some really good family games

PS3. You don't need a Wii because you can buy Playstation Move for the PS3 and it's like two systems in one. PS3 has great adult games for when they get to their teenage years and some games like Sports Champions or Eyepet can be really fun for someone their age. PS Move is easy to manuever and can be real fun for any age.

I say PS3. You will not be dissapointed.

I had my original one from launch for 4 years only reason it crapped out is cause i played MW2 for some 2 and half days straight (i burnt out the graphics card) and they sent me the box and it was replaced and back in my house in less then a week

My ps3's bluray crapped out in 6 months, we had a wii but sold it with in a year as it was never played

The new Xbox 360 shouldn't have the same issues the previous versions had. I think you'd be safe getting one.

I have a PS3, but if I had to do it again, I'd probably go with an Xbox 360.

I would have thought the same thing for each release of the XBOX after the first, but that wasn't the case. As for now, I will have to see it to believe it. If Microsoft wasn't smart enough to fix it through the first several releases, what makes me think they've fixed it now?

I would still go with an Xbox just to be safe.

If I was 7 years old I would still want an Xbox over a Wii. I think...

Mario Kart is awesome though.
