Be the bestest dad in the world and get all three!

I did and I don't even have kids (our first - my daughter is due in Jan)!

Wii is definitely better suited for young kids.

The PS3 is great because of its Blu-Ray capabilities. It's also free to play online and comes with wireless built in.

Xbox360 was fun, but I hardly play it anymore. You also have to pay to play online with Xbox Live. Doesn't have wireless built in requiring you to purchase a wifi dongle (you can nerd out and use an old router like I did).

I own all 3, though I have no kids. Definitely get the Wii. It sounds like you're not a gamer yourself and so you're not buying it selfishly. The Wii is cheaper, and there is a huge library of games your kids will love. New Super Mario Bros., Mario Galaxy, Paper Mario, Mario Kart, Zelda, Super Smash Bros., Big Brain Academy, and then of course all the silly party type games that kids love.

In terms of avid video gamers, the 360 and PS3 have much better libraries, but your kids are not old enough to play or appreciate 90% of those libraries.

Wii games don't have foul language so that pretty much rules the Wii out. :laugh2:

PS3 or XBox. Wii is on its way out with the introduction of Kinect and Move.

PS3 is the best package IMO. I love mine.

I have had every playstation console produced by Sony and never had one fail. I thought that my PS3 had died (it would not show anything onscreen) a couple of months ago, but I got it back up and running after visiting Sony.com's support site.

So, I'm biased. Get a PS3. :)

I've always been a playstation guy but the Xbox completely out did Sony with the Xbox 360.

Wow thanks for the responses. My kids are familiar with Wii because their friends have it usually when they go over to others houses. I didnt want to rule out the others since they are not familiar with it. I just want the best bang for my buck plus the latest and greatest as far technology wise. My kids have all the other electronics like iPhone and iPods, LCD tv and laptops just been holding out since it seems little overwhelming when it comes to what to buy plus accessories. They are pretty easy to please so which ever I decide they will be happy with.

One more question is a gaming chair nice to have or just overrated? TIA

We have all 3 systems...and the Wii is collecting the most dust! My kids (son in particular) loved the Wii early on but once he got his 360 it was over (he is 13 now so that's part of it). IMO the Wii is good for younger kids but once they get older they may prefer the bells & whistles that the PS3 or 360 offers. And with all three having the motion-sensing dynamic it may be better in the long run to get the PS3 or 360...

As far as gaming chairs, they seem like a waste of $$$ to me being as most kids will be satisfied playing games even if they were standing! :laugh2: Now if you're setting up a game room for them it may be worth investing in a set...

How is Mario for kids

:laugh2:

I guess it isn't, but they are just the "in thing" for kids aged 5 to 9 right now. My son just had three kids over yesterday to run four player Super Mario Wii and Mario Party 8 sessions. Great entertainment on a rainy afternoon. Adding NetFlix was awesome because of all the kids movies and shows available for streaming.

Honestly, I would be all over X-Box or PS3 if I was buying for myself or even had older kids (they both look unreal), but that Wii has been worth every penny because of my little ones.

I just bought the Kinect for the xbox and my kids (8, 5 and 3) absolutely love it, it is a blast to play with your family and you actualy get a little bit of exercise, the technology is simply amazing, I would absolutely recomend it.

Then when they are asleep you can turn on Black Ops and get your behind kicked by a bunch of 12 year olds.

If you like gaming, XBox. If you like telling others your system doesn't fail, PS3.

I'm clueless when it comes to video games console. My kids want one for ******mas. I don't know which one to get or which one is most popular.

Can you give me your opinion on which one to go after.

Ages 9 &5. I pretty sure I would enjoy it as well.

At ages 9 and 5 I would suggest a Wii. Xbox 360 and PS3 games tend to be more oriented for teen and adult gamers. Wii has alot of games that kids at that age can enjoy now and well into the future such as Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart, Wii Sports, etc. The other two consoles tend to have games like Modern Warfare. You'll enjoy the Wii as well. I'm 22 and me and my college buddies play Super Smash brothers on Wii all the time.
