I was just listening to a replay of Archer on KTBB.com and he had one thing to say that just ruined my Sunday morning.

He said that since 2003 we have lost our starting QB to injury for a total of 2 quarters. That is a statistical anomaly.

I'm the eternal optimist, but I'm fearing a reversion to the mean.

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP
ALLEVIATE MY FEARS

The earth takes 365 days to orbit the sun on a certain path. On average, 3 asteroids pass through the that same path each year. I still sleep well at night. No need to worry about uncertain possibilities. I don't have a reference, but I believe it was either Discovery or the NASA channel.

An asteroid caused the extinction of the dinosaurs and, inevitably, will do the same for man.

It's only a question of when?

Brett Favre started every game for the Packers from 1992 to 2008.

It can happen.

Yeah, who cares about the possibilities for disaster? I could technically be hit by a car and die tomorrow... but it won't keep from leaving my house or walking across the street. You just take football like you do life... one step at a time. No need to worry about things you can't control.

We're doomed and the sky is falling, run for the hills.

Brad Johnson is better then Tony Romo anyways'. He will lead us to the promised land and lift the trophy.

That's one of my favorites. Turns out he likes the wacky weed and gets himself cut. His roster spot allows us to keep this Romo kid!:D

Yours fears are well grounded. I really do think the sky is falling this time.

Actually it is 365.25 days hence why we get a leap year every 4 years. How much time has Brady and P. Manning missed over that same period of time?

The odds of a QB being injured are only significant if you look at the time period as a whole. If you were to go back to 2003 and say that we wouldnt miss more than 2 quarters then that would be highly improbable.

All of that has come to pass and in terms of future probabilities it is immaterial. The fact that Romo has not missed time also bodes well. There is statistical evidence that players thatdon't miss time the previous year are more likely to not miss time the following year. In that context it actually is a good thing that Romo has not missed time.

If you flip a coin 9 times and it comes up heads every time, the 10th flip still has the same 50/50 chance of coming up heads/tails, the past flips are meaningless to the current odds.

Vegas rakes it in on people's idea that "hey it was red the last 3 spins I'm betting black" etc.

Wait...so is this thread to point out that he's worried we'll lose Romo for a long period of time this year?

I don't worry about those things cause you can't change them anyway. Just go with the flow.
