I hope Payton stays. But I think he will be a HC somewhere. I woulda liked to seen what Paytons would do if he had just a AVERAGE OL. A good OL and I think Payton coulda put out one of the top 3 offenses in the NFL.

All you have to do is look at how our offense was doin good when Adams was still playin and our line was almost good nuff to be average. Julius injured alot. Old people at WR. Payton was not the one who chose who was gonna be on offense. That is on Parcells. For what Payton had to work with he did a good job.

yes you guys are correct let us get rid of an oc who had no line to work with and is being interviewed for a HC job and replace him with a coach who has been fired twice and could do nothing with Randy Moss. OH who called four staight runs last sat. with Moss on the sidelines, Norv has done nothing since he had the triplets, I beg any of you to tell me what he has accomplished in the last 12 years

I was hoping BP would go after Al Saunders; and Norv would be a solid choice as well both like to run which would make BP happy but I like the more vertical passing game of Saunders and Norv over what Bill likes in the passing game.

Saunders and Norv both come from the Ernie Zampesee line and run a variation of that offense

Turner and Parcells.

I just don't see it.

I wouldn't mind it. But I just don't see it.

I don't know. Payton's guys - Drew, JJ, Barber, Witten, Key, and Glenn -- all had good seasons this year. What would they have been able to accomplish with a better line?
The real question should be is how limited will a very good offense be with Payton at the helm? Payton has not proven himself yet, after many years of attempting to run offenses in the NFL.

I'll take Norv, I hope Parcells will.

whoever wants Payton and/or Zimmer gone, are stupid, sorry, you just are

look at all the attention from other teams they're creating

and have you guys ever stopped to think, that maybe, just maybe, Zimmer and Payton haven't been setting the world on fire, is because we've just dug our talent level from the dregs of below-mediocrity, to at least respectable talent?

all I say is give them one more year with even more improved team talent to work with, and then, and only then, do you give them a warranted hard-time

I got news for you, Pal...

As long as the guys up front aren't executing properly, it won't matter who calls the plays, or what plays are called.

But the ignorant fan will ALWAYS blame the playcalling when the offense doesn't perform. Nevermind the execution by the players of the plays called, it's the play itself that fails.

And to that I say

As long as Bill is here we will not have any ex head coachs on the staff. Bill has an ego that won't allow this to happen. Martz in St. Louis is the same way. They both surround themselves with under studies who learn under them.

Payton is a very good OC. And 2 more years under Bill would turn him into a hell of a Head Coach. If he isn't already. We need to keep Payton as long as we can. He will be the next Behlchik.

I repeat......Payton has had many years as OC at one team or another. Please point out anywhere or anytime that he has managed a prolific offense. Noone ever does because Payton hasn't proven a thing in years as OC for a NFL team. I am not a Zimmer hater, Zimmer is a 4-3 coach learning on the job and I think we can do better. Go back to Carthon, what's he accomplished at Detroit, Dallas, or Cleveland? The lineage thing gets folks warped.

Nonetheless, I will not resort to calling you stoooopid, we simply differ.

You do realize that it took BP 2 years working with Payton before he'd let him call plays and you expect him to just hand playcalling over to someone he's just starting out with. Come on now BP will be calling all the plays next year if Payton leaves. IS that what you want?

Nice one dude, totally agree. I know everyone wants the high flying offense like the Colts have, but there is nothing wrong with the offense that Dallas tried to deploy last year. Drew was putting up career stats and his rating was in the 90's. Then Flo goes down and our line starts to grow bigger leaks and our offense tanks and Drews numbers go down.

The offensive line was more the culprit for the offense than anything that Patyon did. Payton can call go routes for Glenn all day long, but if the line cannot give Bledsoe time to let Glenn down the field what good is that going to do.

BTW, Im sure Payton wanted to open it up, but BP did not let him!!!

We agree about Payton. But there is a reason why more teams are interested in Payton then Zimmer. Payton clearly has a much better football mind.

But Zimmer. You could have a HOFer in their primes at every positions on defense and it wouldnt matter 3-4 4-3 or whatever. Whatever team we faced would see a bend dont break read and react defense. The QB of that team would never have to worry about gettin pressured and our turnovers would still be nowhere near the top 10. Our blitzs would still be the football follies of the NFL and everyone and their greatgramma could see a Zimmer blitz coming.

He has zero imagination. The sad thing is that it is gonna take this team to get a real DC in here who knows how to use a attack defense and the playres the best they can. When we get that DC then some in here who think Zimmer is so great will wonder what they were ever thinkin by thinkin he was good.
