Poker at work

You need to host regular poker tournaments. They're fun. Do a cheap buy-in (like $5) and have 20 players. Say the Winner gets 70%, Second place gets 20%, and Host gets 10% (for providing the venue, chips, etc).

It's a lot of fun, especially with games like Texas Hold'em.
They CAN be fun, until you get that one guy that gets all serious and wants to up the pot or do side bets.

I have been playing poker for years, like 35+ years and have never got a RF. I have seen a couple, once in Vegas and another online.

i wonder how many decks you are picking a card from, the less decks the less chance to get that flush. It is a one deck game with like a 1 in 650K chance to hit it but you might be picking from hundreds of cards for more chances?
I have gotten a straight flush many times along with four of a kind but that royal is a unicorn :muttley:

I've had 3 royals in NLHE, but I've played about a million hands lifetime.

Last I looked the odds of a RF are 650,000 to 1. Hope you pull that 10 card.

Right, but since he's already got 4 of the cards, the chances of that fifth card is dependent on how many cards are left in the deck. If each player gets the full deck, then he exists outside of a normal poker game.. In which case his odds of getting the royal flush now was (edited from is) 1 in 48. otherwise it depends on the number of people playing from that deck...or how many decks there were too.

Last card was the 9 of spades. CRAP! Off by one error.

That's still a flush. Not bad at all.

Sounds like someone was trying to get your hopes up.....or maybe it's your boss's way of demonstrating how it feels when you almost do a good job.
