I used to get someone's cell phone calls over our old baby monitor. It was pretty creepy.

What was creepy. The fact that you could hear it, or their conversations? :laugh2:

OOOOOOOO the old analog cell phones, I use to tune my UHF on my TV as high as it would go and there were cell phone calls, lol. I remember listening to one guy telling another one how he cheated on his wife with a hooker and all that stuff, I laughed so much, I think I was like 12.

I could only hear one side of the conversation, but the guy had a weird old redneck voice. Like something out of The Deliverance.

I remember the first time I heard it I was freaking out wondering where this voice was coming from. It happened a couple of times, the same guy.

Slightly OT, but somehow our land lines got crossed with the neighbors and the phone would ring, when I would answer it it was someone elses conversation. I could listen in and even talk, lol. I would mutter things and they would say "Did you just hear that?" The LOL factor was almost worth dealing with the trouble, but we ended up needing Verizon to come out to fix it.

The city I live in, I would be lucky to hear one thing on that scanner per month. :laugh2:

My town's 2009 crime statistics are: zero murders, zero rapes, 4 robberies, 10 assaults, 2 auto thefts, and zero arsons.
With the way homeowners shoot people around your area I'm not surprised. All the criminals moved out.

I remember years ago my grandparents had a party-line type phone, where the line was shared between you and another residence. There were a few times when I'd pick up the phone and someone else would be talking.

I'd listen until my grandmother would catch me and scold me for being nosy.:

I've got one of the old Realistic 2022's from Radio Shack. don't listen to it much, unless the weather is bad...snowy or icy. They tell me that this particular older model could also pick up cell phone calls with the right modification. I wouldn't know about that,as that is supposedly illegal.

I have an old Radio Shack scanner "Pro 43", I believe, and it would pick up cell phone, and cordless calls. It would also pick up ATC at DFW, and Love Field. You would hear some crazy calls come over the radio while listening to the Dallas Police, especially the weekends.

Radio Shack used to sell a book that had channels for different cities, but you can probably find that stuff pretty easily on the net now.

I have a scanner app on my iphone "5-0 Radio" that allows you to listen to different cities from around the world.
