I refuse to make this decision before TC/preseason begins. It's kind of like asking who should start, Carter or Hutchinson (except the obvious difference in talent)? New coach, new beginning.

everyone knows that

Marion Barber III ran a 4.48
Julius Jones ran a 4.47

So can we please stop griping about speed.

good poll.

I wish it were more specific though.

With the Barber choice, do we lose JJ altogether? Or do they just switch roles?

I like the 1-2 punch, but I wish MB3 would be used more to set up JJ.

Again we were 13th in yardage and YPC. If you think that is not broken then you are satisfied with mediocrity.

MB, why? because with the new blocking this year he's going to get off. Look what he did in his last two starts. He got over 100 yards rushing both times and he get touchdowns. This guy needs an role by himself or with a better runningback like Michael Turner, Jerious Norwood, or Chris Henry.

no they just switch roles. why is the tandem thing an option on the poll? 2 guys can't be your starting running back. i'm asking who do you want getting the bulk of the carries.

The Jones/Barber tandem choice doesn't answer the question and shouldn't be part of the poll.

Of course there will be a tandem...both guys, if on the team, will get some carries and the starter will get a rest...

However, there can be only 1 starter...you can't start a tandem.

I choose Barber because he's the more rounded back, not only a power runner with a nose for the short yardage situations, but also the better blocker and the better receiver.

I want the starter to bring the threat of the pass on 1st and 2nd down, which makes the passing game and the running game more successful because it puts more pressure on the LB's and safeties. I like having a starter who doesn't limit your offense and who doesn't have to come out on 3rd and short or 3rd and long.

I think JJ is better suited to be the change of pace back, along with Tyson Thompson, and you should still give the ball to the guy with the hot hand.

I said Barber only because the option for competing for the starting job was not added. Who ever starts I hope it is based on performance and nothing else

Ummmm.....Whom do I pick? JJ or MBIII

1. Which is the better blocker.......MBIII

2. Which has more speed......JJ

3. The better receiver.......MBIII

4. Which of the two finishes a run......MBIII, He more often than not will give you the extra 2 or 3 yds after contact.

5. Which of the two has the better vision and balance.....MBIII, he usually finds the opening and can slither through the the tight ones. Where as JJ is usually on the ground on first contact.

6. Which of the two runs with an attitude....MBIII

7. Which of the two has the most durability.....we know JJ does not but will MBII?? I say lets find out!!!!!

I go w/MBIII

The way I see it:
Jones > Hambrick, Cason, Lee, Anderson, Thomas, George
Barber > Hambrick, Cason, Lee, Anderson, Thomas, George

Jones & Barber >>>>>>>> Hambrick, Cason, Lee, Anderson, Thomas, George

At least we have backs they are capable starters and who are producing, so why all the complaints? We could be starting "the heir to Emmitt's throne, the great Troy Hambrick" again....or the ultimate one step-fall down master, Eddie George...

Marion Barber is not a starting running back!!!! BP used him just right. Lets keep it that way. As it is said for those of you wishing MBIII is our starting running back, "Be careful what you wish for"

Is Jones a starting back? Barber deserves a chance to challenge for the job based on play. If Jones shows himself to be the better back then great but right now his play is inconsistent and needs to show a heck of a lot more. Barber runs behind the same line and he is the one that has given the offense the big spark in the second half of many games after slow starts in the 1st half of games by the Cowboys offense. I think many just want Barber to be given the chance to prove himself instead of being told he is incapable of becoming a starter with nothing to back that up

And which of the two can break it for 77 yds?

Once you get into the open most backs can get it to the endzone, Jones may get there quicker. Barber with a 4.48 40 which is a bit less than Tomlinson 4.46 40 can take it the distance once he gets into the open field.

I'd rather have 3-5 consistently, then to have 19 one yard runs, then one 77 yarder.

That was the difference between Emmitt and Barry, only JuJo is no Barry and MB3 is no Emmitt.

So basically we're debating about which one is average and which one is slightly above average. Yay.
