Zeke had 81 yards on 13 rushes just 2 games prior. Davis was good in the role he played yesterday, but his 5 runs doesn't outdo Elliott at this point. We need to see much more to really know what we can get out of Davis.
That 81 yards was Zeke's best game in like a year though.

In my opinion, Zeke doesn't really offer this team anything that they can't get with about any backup running back in the league.

He never breaks tackles. He can't make anyone miss. Provides absolutely no big play threat. According to pff (no idea how true), he is worse than Pollard in pass protection. And you would be hard pressed to find a rb with uglier receiving stats than Zeke too.

You said he hadn't had a game like that in a long time. I didn't say Zeke was regularly putting up strong games, but it hasn't been a long time since he had one.

And I'm not saying Zeke is special at this point. Clearly he is not as effective as he was earlier in his career. But that doesn't mean he has no value, or that a guy with 7 career carries is the better choice to pair with Pollard.

As for pass protection, anyone who watches the games can easily see Zeke is the better player. As for receiving, Zeke has been good in that role his entire career, but Pollard is better, so he's the one getting the receiving opportunities out of the backfield.

Thought pollard was good in pass protection against packers

I wouldn't have such a problem with Zeke if they didn't continue giving him more reps than Pollard. Pollard was the better player last year as well. Zeke was hurt but they kept trotting him out there to get his 3 yards per carry.

Zeke would be a decent backup in this league. But he's paid and treated like a star. That just rubs people the wrong way.

As for his receiving, it seems like a wasted play whenever he is thrown the ball. I just looked it up and saw that he has 6 catches for 32 yards on the season, with 2 drops. It's so annoying when they line him up outside too. He could be covered by a defensive end.

absolutely. Guys get hurt, dinged up. You need 3 guys each week if your a serious run team.
I'm in agreement with anyone bright enough to have a name CowboyRoy. He sounds like he could be a coach in disguise.

looks like you missed the point again. They don’t need him. Heck Davis was better than zeke.
Man you have such great insite of this team. Maybe you should change your name to closet coach?

I say just kick Zeke to the curb. Get it over with and release us from this hell.

You BRILLIANT NFL strategists would give zeke his 10 carry fair share.....while complaining about not living up to the contract. REALLY?

You'd hate Emmitt to with that kind of strategy. You swear to god Keellen Moore is an idiot but Kellen has given Zeke fair shot to be the power back he is?

#2 change of pace backs get 10-12 carries. Power backs want that in the 4th qtr. If you don;t understand this concept....here's your sign.

Roy has ALWAYS hated Zeke. Almost like he's a bama fan....to whom zeke handed them their azz.

Let me refresh you. Roy is the same guy that claimed

"zeke is only rushing champion because of number of carries".

When I showed him Emmitt's carries per game...he put me on ignore right quick.

The NFL hasn;t changed that much. That formula worked in 2016 just fine. Maybe zeke isn;t 2016 form....but the formula still works.

Even this week...people STILL complain that Kellen Moore abandons the run too fast. It's true...and zeke is even MORE of a victim than tony.

It's funny these are the same people that hate zeke for not living up to the contract. They can;t see their illogical opinions.

They don't need Zeke. Both rbs were more effective yesterday than Zeke has been in a long time.

They should have ran the ball more. But if Zeke is in there the running game is not as explosive.

I should have worded my initial post differently. They need Zeke because they trust him and really have no fluency when he calls plays without him. It’s almost uncomfortable when he’s not in there as far as play calling goes. I’ve been clamoring for Malik to play since the season began. The dude can play. But it’s almost JG like on offense and they don’t trust young guys.

Which means he goes for 2,300 yards and 34 TDs over a 17 game season if we would just get rid of Zeke.

If you do the math Davis averaged over 7 yards per carry….with the 13 carries Zeke had Davis gets 91 yards to Zeke’s 81. Plus, Davis has the potential to break runs for big yardage. Zeke never breaks a run for more than 10-15 yards at most. As mentioned, the running game is less dynamic and effective with Zeke. But Jerry paid him and Jerry never makes a mistake.

He’s doing well. But they need Zeke. The needed him a lot yesterday so they chose to throw the ball too much to give him breathers. Moore is the reason this team won’t win a SB.
I give up. I’m losing faith in humanity. People cannot possibly be this stupid.

We needed Zeke? For what?

A lot of folks stuck right there in 2016 with Jerrah, thinking Dak/Zeke one playoff win in 6 years means Super Bowl is coming.

Zeke is an awful RB. I don’t see how you can see the other guys play including an undrafted FA and think Zeke is even an average nfl rb.

This is like the Jaylon Smith saga again.

AWFUL TERRIBLE one of the worst players in the nfl. Running over oppposing defenders for a 3 yard gain is not a skill. Please stop it.

He really hasn't been and last year, he was awful. Sure he catches the ball, but did nothing with it.

Zeke is not even on this list with his awful 6.1 yards per reception. I wish I could find the statistic believe he was the worst receiving back in the league last year..
He's only averaging 5.3 this year is is time to cut the cord.

This team doesn’t need Zeke. A fullback could provide the things that still make him special.

Zeke could have helped wear down the Packers defense yesterday. We might have stayed with the run a little more had we had him. I believe he makes Pollard even more effective. He’s still a very tough inside runner and we could’ve use that yesterday trying to hang onto that lead.

Actual production > Zeke’s mythical abilities that can’t be quantified.
