I think 1,200 yards should be the new bench mark for whether or not a RB had a good season or not.
Jim Brown had over 1200 yards in a season when it was 12 games long.....three times.

Joe Perry of the 49ers also had multiple thousand yard seasons when they were 12 games long.

Getting a thousand yards in 12 games is the equivalent of getting 1417 yards in a 17 games season.

Here is what Pollards 1005 yards in a 17-game season is equivalent to:

16 games season: 946 yards

14 game season: 828 yards

12 game season: 709 yards

I agree that 1200 yards should be the new "thousand yard" rusher.

Amazing almost no one on this thread mentions the lack of blocking Pollard has had this year!

Considering the lack holes to run through Pollard did as good as could be expected.

Sequin Barkley is a top 10 back, talent wise, but he did not reach 1,000 yds because, like Pollard, his blocking was not very good.

Christ give the guy a bit of credit he’s just come back from a broken leg and serious ligament damage, as well as trying to work into a new offensive system and hit a thousand yards. Not sure what more people expect him to do.
He’s been great last few weeks seems to be hitting form at exactly the right time

It wasn’t a good season for him even with the last few decent games. I hope he isn’t back next season and Dallas upgrades the RB room.
Naw, the deciding factor on his retention is to match up salary with actual productions. Not on being a bell carrier. Not the same...

You can tell who the football “boomers” are by their refrain for “bell cow” running backs.

Here’s news.

Today’s NFL is decidedly a passing league.

Nobody is toting the rock 20+ times a game with any regularity.

In fact, Derrick Henry led the league in carries this year with 280. That equates to just 16.4 rushes per game.

He has run hard. Reality is our blocking this year has been pretty poor. Our only overpowering blocker is our LG. The rest are good but not great. Pollard has run into the same thing Zeke encountered last year. Get the ball and 75 percent of the time someone is already in the backfield.. Hard for any back to do well with crappy blocking.

..Congrats to TP. He nudged 1,005 yds, for the season.

Enough to call it good season. Still made the mark, with makeshift OL and ongoing injuries.

With post season on horizon, that number will surely go up.
Will be surprised if he is with us after March.

unless he takes a huge pay cut.

Behind this offensive line, I think that is an accomplishment. How many yards did he have to make back after getting tackled for losses?

Younger, stronger, faster please. You wanna make the big money you gotta bring it all year. Looked way different to me. Coming off injury, moving to starter, whatever the excuse is I don't care. Buh bye.

1,000 yards in this NFL is the new 1,400. All the top backs are under 1,500 in this NFL.

Having said that TP played awesome the other day. His blocking is going very unnoticed as well. That one run towards the goal line made me jump out of my chair it was so good!

Not bad for a guy coming back from a broken ankle off a dirty tackle and no real run blocking.

You do realize you're arguing against 8 yards a game? Even more silly when you factor in that was at 15 games a season which changed in 1978. At 16 game season the difference is now from 62.5 yards per game to 58.3 a difference of 3.7 yards a game.

Sign Derrick Henry this offseason
Derrick Henry? Manalive, I think you might be living in 2020!!!

YPC for Henry the last 3 years:

2021: 4.3
2022: 4.4
2023: 4.2

Problem is, Henry absolutely cannot run inside. He's terrible at it. Best open field runner I've ever seen in my life, but as big as he is, he's a terrible short yardage back.
