It was a perfectly legal tackle
Players have an unwritten rule on how they take care of each other. The Seahawks were notorious for those alligator role type tackle that causes lower leg injuries. Maybe it's a NFC West thing. Is it legal? Yes. Can it injure people? For sure! And all I am saying is that... if you hit below the belt legally...there was a time where you would think twice knowing Woody, or Roy, or James Washington or Larry or Erik or Tui...were wearing a Cowboys uniform

Pollard underwent a "TightRope" procedure instead of a surgery that required screws into the tibia and fibula for a repair. In this procedure, a braided polyethylene cord, rather than a rigid surgical screw, is applied to restore the original position of the bones and to allow for proper healing.

Pollard should be at full strength well before training camp. Tua Tagovailoa underwent a similar surgery while at Alabama, and Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill also had the procedure recently. Pollard also suffered a fractured fibula but that will heal with time.”
Don’t know of any RBs that have undergone this surgery. It certainly won’t give him any leverage in free agency. He’ll still be rehabbing when free agency starts.

How do you avoid falling on someone's legs when they are running away from you and you are behind them? PS. It's impossible. Double PS. Did you ever play tackle football?
Yes, I played football and I never dropped all of my weight on someone's legs.

But let's penalize a defender for an open-handed inadvertent head slap to a qb. Dumbest stuff ever.

No more tackles once the runner gets in front of you. You have to just let him go at that point. Is that what people are really wanting? We just keep making it harder and harder to play any form of defense.
That’s not what the hip drop is. You can tackle the guy from behind in which case most runners fall forward and go down. The reason this tackle was outlawed in Rugby, which is rougher than football, is because instead of diving into the guys legs or wrapping him up from behind, this is very much like a horse collar. The defender grabs the runner by the hips, but instead of holding him there of then dropping straight down, taking the runner down, the defender uses the runner like a pole and literally swings his lower body into the runners legs. It can be avoided easily.

This exactly.

If it is was a perfectly legal tackle those type of injuries would happen more often, it is, at the very least, bad technique if not dirty play.

Ward needs to not drop on his legs. Sorry, that should be a penalty.

We don't need all of the protection on a QB, we should be able to hit runners as needed. Some of the defenseless wr stuff is too much.

Falling on legs, intentionally, needs to be a rule. I even said it in the game thread for Mahomes...it looked intentional to hurt him. Same with Pollard.
So, explain Kenneth.

How was Ward supposed to bring him down. Not drop his weight? What should he have done? Hold on his waist and run with him.

Y’all haven’t even thought this through, luulz.

One could just as ridiculously take the stance that once grabbed a ball carrier should not be allowed to continue to fight for yards.

Plant your feet in the ground and pull. Pick him up and suplex him, I don't care. Free falling on their legs while holding them is illegal and dirty.

I will add the language to where this rule would actually fit for you:

  1. Prohibited contact against a player who is in a defenseless posture is:
    1. forcibly hitting the defenseless player’s head or neck area with the helmet, facemask, forearm, or shoulder, even if the initial contact is lower than the player’s neck, and regardless of whether the defensive player also uses his arms to tackle the defenseless player by encircling or grasping him
    2. lowering the head and making forcible contact with the crown or ”hairline” parts of the helmet against any part of the defenseless player’s body
    3. illegally launching into a defenseless opponent. It is an illegal launch if a player (i) leaves both feet prior to contact to spring forward and upward into his opponent, and (ii) uses any part of his helmet to initiate forcible contact against any part of his opponent’s body. (This does not apply to contact against a runner, unless the runner is still considered to be a defenseless player, as defined in Article 7.)
    4. Forcibly falling on a runners legs while already engaged in a tackle act.

We can add to it if you think it requires more detail.

I miss the days where teams feared our physicality. We do not have an enforcer. At one time....you do something like that to our team....you were going to have to see Roy Williams (safety) or Darren Woodson or James Washington. You were going to have to see Larry Allen or Erik Williams or Mark Tuenei or Kevin Gogan. Team did not want any smoke with those guys...so they kept it above board.

Just as expected, you don’t have a clue of what you’re talking about.

How was Ward, chasing down a ball carrier at full speed supposed to “pick him up and suplex him?”

This is really about a faction of our fanbase whining because they knew Pollard was a huge part of our chance winning against the 49ers. He unfortunately got hurt playing football and now the Hurt Feelings Crew is out in force claiming the tackle was dirty and wanting to change rules.
