Pollard on kick returns

After struggling so badly last year and much of this year, as of late Pollard seems like he could be coming on as a kick returner,.. and a lethal potent game changing KR at that.

- If he continues as such, he is gonna be an extra weapon that teams will have to contend with,. an Cordell Patterson type that teams will be fear-forced to try to kick away from, ..that ends up with the ball
curving and bouncing outta bounds for killer field position penalties.

I admit that I was one that was mistakenly pleading for special teams coach Bones Fassel to take away that KR role away from Pollard because he would continue to make disastrous decisions and mishandling of the ball that would just kill us in poor starting field position.
He'd either muff the ball, or oddly run the ball deep outta the end zone, wasn't following proper blocking sets and get killed at the 10 yrd line,..

Not just one occasional bad game,.. but seemingly on virtually an every week basis.. ..it got to a point if we should’ve turned to Cedric Wilson or Rico Dwindle instead.

- Pollard the last 2 games has ripped off two huge 60+ yarders vs Ravens and Bengals … I believe he had another previous big kick return but I forget the game and vs the team

- In college Pollard was a huge prime time kick returner with I believe 7 TDs off kick returns.

As of late, his decision making and ball handling has vastly improved, the blocking is there for him, and he’s gaining a sense and feel for running lanes at the NFL level.
Only a matter of time before he breaks it for TDs.
All indications the way it’s currently going, I was wrong for wanting to bench Pollard on kick returns

Kick returns are largely just the blocking. Even on his big return, he didn't look good to me. Tentative. He's been that way for a while, running or returning. I thought he'd make a jump this year. I had big dreams for him. Looks worse to me this year

he really has done a helluva job these last few games.
wish he had done this earlier.

Fassel coaches the game like an aggressive play caller on offense and defense. I love it. ST’s around here have been an afterthought for a decade that contributed nothing to the game. Fair Catch Beas and take the ball at the 25 every time. Not one blocked punt etc. So glad JG is gone.

Right. Not saying I don't like it. I haven't agreed with all his decisions, but I'm pleased to see him try to make an impact with special teams. When it works, everyone is happy. When it fails, he knows he's going to hear about ... and he does it anyway.

I do hope he pushes for us to get a new kicker next year, though, instead of being loyal to Zuerlein or bringing in a retread. It's time to use a late-round pick on the position. We've gotten lucky with some undrafted FAs, but you can't rely on that.
