Use the rest of the season to make sure and take a hard look at all positions.

QB. OK there; probably need to give Mcgee some time to see if he can be a QB of the future or at least a good backup.

FB: Gronk is going to be a villian but he is a rookie. But we do need a crushing blocker there who can catch passes. Need to make sure we have one.

RB: Barber needs to go. He has a lot of wear on the treads. Keep CHoice and start felix.

TE: Need to make sure about Bennett. sadly Witten might be getting worn down, and his mistakes have to stop. We do get Phillips back so we are probably all right there for the time being.

O Line. where to start? OK Center: Gurode - if his knee is a degenerative condition then we need to start Costa and see if he is the future. If not we got to get one in the draft.

Guard: Holland is solid so we keep him as a backup. Need to find out about Bright. And frankly in the offseason Jerruh needs to get Mankins. Need to draft one guard in the 2nd or 3rd so that we can get him working quickly.

Tackle: Free is a question mark; still young but he does not seem to be able to do the job without Help. Last year he looked very good at RT. Maybe that IS his best position. Young might make a good RT, we need to see this year. I think we need to draft one fairly early next draft.

WR: nothing necessary here- one position on the team we do not need to worry about.

Kicker: Beuhler should get the rest of the season to see if he can do the job and if not we get another and keep him for kickoffs.

Punter: another position with no worry.

D tackle: Spears we should keep if we can do it without breaking the bank; Olshansky- I don't know; he seems to be a goofball but seems solid. Not sure. I think we need to look for a guy here. Backups do not impress me.

NT: Rat has not had a good season but no reason yet to worry; backups need more time so we can evaluate them.

OLB: Butler needs more time so that we can see about him; Spencer frankly worries me some but lets give him the rest of the season. Work the other kids in and see what they got. Might as well rest Ware; no point in working him hard the rest of the season.

ILB: we NEED to find out about Lee; and any other young ILBs. I think a pick or two should be used next draft.

CB: Jenkins needs to be watched; Scandrik needs to know he is on the line; and we need to pick one fairly high next draft.

Safety: clean out and start over; FA or draft picks.

Major needs:

Free safety
Right Guard
Inside linebacker
Right Tackle

Another corner wouldn't hurt either.

Oh, and dump Barber and play Jones and Choice. barber is now a glorified 800+++++ million blocking back.

Witten just is a guy that needs a firm hand on him. Parcels road his *** hard along with Dan Campel to get him to be a good dependable player and he responded big time.

You are forgetting another starting caliber corner. Newman is 32, and Jenkins is grossly over rated.

I did. You even quoted it. lol. I understand, long night.........

I said we needed to look at Witten last week and I got blasted. Now you guys are coming around...

Pretty good assessment IMO.

OL, S, ILB, and CB depth are my major concerns.

Olshansky is garbage. When was the last time someone remembers him even getting a hit on the QB? The guy doesn't make plays at all.

Depends on what you mean by "need to look at". I've yet to see anyone suggest that he isn't making mistakes, and that he doesn't deserve blame. I have seen the other end of the spectrum go overboard, however.

Offensive line, specifically guard is at the top of my list.

This team has nothing they can count on at that spot.

Last night.

He is far from garbage, and while he's also far from a pro bowl player, he's not even close to being one of our biggest concerns.

I mean we need to maybe make the hard decision on a fan favorite if he is truly on the decline. Wade will never do it....Jerry won't either. Gruden will do it in a second if given the authority.

We're desperate at ILB, S, CB, and NT.

ILB is a position we are weak at...I like both starters, but they are not big enough or physical enough to make our 3-4 a punishing D.

S is clearly an issue...we need a playmaker/enforcer at FS.

CB is a bigger issue than most will admit...we carry 3 because we never saw anyone on the summer roster good enough to carry 4...Ball is a backup...Scandrick is not as bad as people want to make out, but we don't want to see him as a full time starter, especially when we have no 4th corner.

I don't care of Ratliff likes it or not...we need to find a big, strong, unmovable NT who can plug the middle and push the pocket back. Ratliff is a beast for his size, but he can't hold up against double-teams and he doesn't push the pocket back at all...he's great with quickness if the OL gives him an opportunity, but against a good OL, he's overmatched inside. I still say we find a beast who can't be moved out of there at NT and move Ratliff to DE.

Wow...and to think OL is our number 1 concern...this defense is also very weak and can't really compete with the physical teams.

He's no better than average.

And he's not even able to contain the run.

And his completely embarrassing 'celebrations' are indicative of the clueless players on this underachieving team.

I'd certainly pay Spears to be average before I'd put any more money in Olshansky.

I don't know his stats, but I've heard his name on tackles more often than Spears this year...neither of those guys will ever be a factor in the pass rush.

As for Witten, the guy still had a very good game receiving the ball...he's still a true quality TE.

His problem is that he has taken Flo's spot as the false start guy...and that fumble didn't help, but those things can be fixed. He made a lot of plays in the passing game for us last night.

Exactly.

He's still an elite TE, but his mental mistakes are killing us. It's inexcusable, even for a pro bowler.

...and while it pissed me off, I don't think you can look at the fumble and use it as an argument against the player as a whole.....everyone coughs it up every once in a while.

He needs to be yelled at, screamed at, punched in the nose....whatever....but he most certainly does NOT need to be traded (or any other ridiculous notions like being benched).

Newman at 32 is better than 98% of the league younger than him.

I'll say it until the cows come home, but they better be looking at QB. Romo has age on him, and once you get in a situation where you're desparate at QB, you can get stuck there for years, and wind up doing irrational things like SF and Oakland have done. Or crazy things like drafting Quincy Carter and signing Chad Hutchinson or trading for Drew Henson.

For a change, Jones needs to be proactive, and not wait til he's in the deep stuff.

If Jenkins plays for the Jets, Steelers, Ravens, Giants, or Eagles, I doubt he gets half those PI calls. Those teams are allowed to be far more physical with WRs. Jenkins is a physical player on a finesse team, so he sticks out like a sore thumb.

The guy that needs to go, and I mean before the Jax game is Sensabaugh. He is the worst safety I have ever seen in a Cowboys uniform.....He can't cover, he can't tackle, he can't hit, he has no ball skills whatsoever, he has no read and react skills whatsoever. How this guy made the NFL is beyond me.
