Positive Nugget on Tet

I haven't studied him closely, but I'm wary of these big WRs who don't get any separation. And an awful lot of his highlights are against bad teams. Like the one above against New Mexico... I'm not sure people realize how bad that program is. There might literally be Texas high school teams who could beat them.

In general I'm not for a WR this high. If I had to, I'd go with a Golden type. But I can't think of many times when a team with this many holes takes a WR this high and is greatly improved. This team needs defense.

This makes me so feel much better about him as a prospect. He doesn’t have the short area quickness and burst of Lamb but this right around the same long speed I found for Lamb.

He obviously doesn’t have the twitch and quickness that makes Lamb elite but it shows he has the build up juice to win down the field if you let him.

Id actually prefer someone that wasnt in the Lamb mold as a #2. A big target like Tet or a burner

I'm with you on McMillan. Contested catch college receivers scare me. To use a top 15 pick on one hoping they can carry that over to the NFL is high risk. This offense needs juice. Someone who can threaten and take the top off of a defense.

NFL just updated it's WR rankings and there are 10 guys Lance thinks will be good starters that I would be happy with as a our WR2.

Travis Hunter 6.89 (also a CB) Two for the price of one
Luther Burden III 6.47 Has some Juice
Matthew Golden 6.42 Also has some juice and is a gamer
Tetairoa McMillan 6.4 Elite Ball Skills
Emeka Egbuka 6.37 very polished
Jack Bech 6.34 Senior Bowl MVP
Jalen Royals 6.31 possession receiver inside or out on the first two levels
Jayden Higgins 6.31 Big inside or outside receiver with outstanding ball skills
Isaiah Bond 6.3 Fluid and fast can play on all 3 levels
Tre Harris 6.3 “X” receiver with big-game potential and a future home as a WR2.

Yea - I think we just need someone that can consistently beat 1:1s when Lamb is eating doubles. I think Tet can fit that mold.
McMillian's catch radius is absurd and when he is covered, he still has the advantage. He is a bad throw catcher...and Dak can use some of that! He will face a ton of 1on1 if drafted by the Cowboys and where we had a real hard time was in the redzone and McMillian will give us an advantage there. He can play in the slot as well as outside. A quarter of his snaps in college were in the slot.
It's well known that he's not a burner, but some are underestimating his ability when it comes to finding the soft spot in the zone and running after the catch. He is more than a sideline threat; he is good at crossing over the middle too and navigating to find an open space when his QB is scrambling. The thing is he's only going to get stronger and become a better route runner.

People need to stop worrying about his speed. He is not a burner.

He is this type of WR -

Shades of Calvin ‘Megtron’ Johnson - the way he just rises leaps like a salmon, and then grabs it out of the air like it’s nothing.

I agree…while he might not be the most twitchy WR his catch radius and hands are elite. Every time I watch a scouting report they also say he’s a good route runner and does a great job finding soft spots in zone.

McMillian is a good fit for our offense. He will move the sticks and once we get into the redzone he becomes a major threat. Some want that over the top speed, but I don't see that as a priority as much as route running, especially if we are going to use play action at a high amount...they say we are, and we should if we are to be running team, and we all know how much better Dak is while using play action. You get those DB's looking in the backfield only helps WR's gain the separation...speed isn't the only way a WR can get separation.
Our offense wants to run the ball and control the time of possession with long drawn out methodical drives and having a play maker like CeeDee paired with what McMillian brings to the table will give defenses fits. And if Fergusen can take that next step will only create more problem. We will see a lot more 12 and 13 personnel with the intention to force teams to load the box and that too will create some mismatches for our receiving corp.

Cowboys will get an upclose look at Tmac in Frisco at the BIG 12 pro day on the 18th.

Bu

Burner is irrelevant. He had issues getting separation on a consistent basis vs corners who won’t even sniff an NFL practice squad. That’s going to become an issue trying to play in a league where everyone is NFL caliber!
I wouldn’t be surprised if whoever drafts him try’s to convert him to TE within 3 seasons!
Corners are 4 to 6 inches shorter than him. They don't bother him at all in contested catches.

In college!
Most aren’t going to be 4-6” shorter in the NFL and are going to be much better than what he faced in college.
Regardless, it’s not worth the chance at 12!

You are saying most nfl corners are over 6ft. The average height for nfl corners is 5ft. 11.

Most teams have at least one corner 6’1-6’2 range!
Mcshay had him at 26 today. That’s probably reflective of what he’s hearing based on tape and lack of burst and acceleration from scouts.
Again, not worth the chance considering what will be available and when it’s not a position of need!

Totally disagree. He would be great fit with the Cowboys and they are considering him.

You are joking right?
Not at all!
Lamb enough said!
Tolbert has improved every year and earned his shot at #2!
Despite the hysterical spazzing of this fan base the Mingo trade was always about this season after a training camp getting his timing down with Dak. He’s going to be given every shot at #3!
They seemed happy with Flournoy last season and he should be ready and capable of backing up the outside positions at minimum!
Brooks has developed into the Brown role of blocking receiver and some to give breather.
Turpin’s coming pay increase should dictate that he gets more snaps at receiver!

Yeah, this position would seem loaded when you consider we have 2 DT…. Really 1 1/2, 2 end and another coming off acl, no viable LB outside of guy coming off his 2nd acl, and only 1 viable outside corner and a2nd year player who was abused last season.

Winging a prayer on6’5 slow receivers with poor burst, short area quickness, and acceleration at 12 really seems like a luxury we can’t afford to chance!
Oh, and then there’s that little run first offense thingy!
