I have a really positive feeling going forward to. I think we are are very good at every skill position except offensive tackle.

I kind of feel like we have now lost 2 divisional playoff games directly because of our offensive lines, particularly our tackles inability to hold their ground in the passing game.

I really really like this team going forward. Wade has a good thing going.

A solid offseason with this team and hopefully some more good young talent in the draft really has me positive.

Today sucked. Romo had zero opportunity to do anything. That is the area this team needs to really attack this offseason. We have seen this front office clean up other deficient areas in the past couple of seasons.

As for childress, I have never had any respect for him and dont understand why he is so highly talked about.

I lost all respect for Brett Favre today, I have always liked him and thought he was good for the league, but him and childress and bevel doing that at the end for individual statistics and records is nonsense. Karma is a real pain in the butt.

anyway, I fet sucker punched in the first half but now I am ready to move on to next year. I like wade and this staff and this roster going forward. The idea that jason williams will become a factor in the future and hodge and brandon williams plus ogletree through an entire offseason really excites me.

I know its hard for everyone today, but I think the arrow is pointed straight up and right now I am more ticked off with favre doing what he did at the end than the team losing. the vikings were better today, congrats to them, but like laufneberg said on the broadcast they tainted the victory and made themselves look bad running it up like that.

That is their problem now, they had better blow everyone out now.

Just because this thread is about positive things for next year doesn't mean you can write positive notes about our Cowboys. Don't you know that the sky is falling??

[/end sarcasm]

For everyone upset at Free, it was just a week ago that everyone was saying he should be starting instead of Columbo, now he just sucks. Jared Allen is an all-pro/pro bowler for a reason. He is a jerk, as is Favre and Childress, so I'm pulling for the Saints to crush them. I think this team is headed in the right direction, but we need to continue to grow and mature. I'm glad that Bennett was pissed afterwards, maybe, just maybe he can keep that motivation throughout next season. Wade will be back, and I hope that Garrett can scheme better next time we play them. This game reminded me of the Giants when they won the super bowl. When you can get a great pass rush with just four people, it allows seven guys to go back into coverage. The o-line played bad, and we were behind too quickly for us to keep our balance.

I would go after gaither who is a rfa at baltimore - He has turned out to be a pretty good player

Except he was manhandled against the colts last night. Didnt matter if it was freeney or mathis, but they both went right around him a lot

Agree with most of this. Even if Wade doesn't have the fire to get us into the Superbowl, we've got as good a chance with him for one more year than with starting over.

We really do need one more OT. Maybe with another training camp under his belt, Free could take over LT safely. But we don't know so I would like to see us draft a big tackle in the first or 2nd round and have some extra competition. Add a placekicker and another WR to the mix and we're good to go.

Coming back from injury can do that to you - ask columbo

He was v good pre injury

I think it is a better option than a crap shoot in the draft

Barber is starting to be a give up play way too much. You can't throw a swing out pass to a back that takes as long as Barber to get going. He only has good speed when going forward and takes too long to get to speed this season for some reason. He's becoming a major liability in our run game.

I agree with this. Nothing made me more mad than the coaches taking Felix out of the game after ripping off 26 yards on 2 plays, basically setting us up for a score. Barber comes in and we either go nowhere or backwards, it seems.

Isn't McNeil from SD available at OT?

That said, I think that we should draft one as well. And quite possibly with one more off-season Free could play that position well.

In all fairness, we've been drafting for the D for the last 13 years or so. I still think we need another CB the quality of Jenkins to replace TNew, but then I think we need OLinemen and a real WR to help Austin. A few years ago several mock drafts had us taking Simeon Rice, but I think we took Carp instead. I wish we'd have taken Rice...

Cowboys need to get a vet kicker. Maybe Folk finds his nuts again. But Suisham was never the answer.

OL needs to be upgraded. Free is a keeper. But Flo is still better than Columbo. Love Columbo's fire, but he was a turnstile today. I want to draft Iupati. And that kid from Army on the 2nd day (6'10 and can play OT, TE & WR). Maybe even a pick to Seattle for Unger (just want to get smarter, stronger & more versatile at backup C/G).

Also need competition at FB and FS. Neither Cricket or Ken Hamlin are the answers. Hamlin sucks in the running game, and the anti-ballhawk. Maybe Phillips replaces Anderson full time. Or put Rat in as goal line FB. Something. Anything. Ed Reed is supposedly thinking about retirement, any chance he changes his mind after preseason? Especially if he is able to rejoin Dennis Thurman? Unless Reed's retirement talk is based on injury.

Garrett needs more vet guidance & proven guys to bounce ideas/plays off, not just his brothers. Wade Wilson does not count. Skip Peete does not do much for me either. Bring in Dan Reeves, even Mike Martz. The more "minds" the better. Garrett still needs grooming.

4. As for our WR, if RW comes around, we're fine. But I still would like for us to look at another WR who adds a speed dimension.

Next year will be his third year in Dallas -- and we are still waiting for him to come around?

He is what he is -- a pedestrian WR -- nothing more nothing less. To expect anymore from him at this point is insane.

We are thinking very much alike.

I have to think we can get a FG kicker in FA.

One unknown is Brewster. He may at least bring in some competition at OG if not RT.

But I agree, get me one more OT and OG, plus one more WR who can stretch the field to complement Austin's ability.

I wish we'd bring in Reeves in some sort of role, but I don't see JJ doing that unfortunately.

I also would like to draft a guy who has that versatililty to play that "Star" position in the backfield - a bit of CB/Safety position.

I still think he can get us around 50-55 catches/year. That's all we need from him as long as Austin, Witten, Crayton, etc. produce. That said, I would really like to get one more WR who can stretch the field.

I think it would add an interesting dimension to the offense and really complement Austin and F Jones. Someone like D Henderson of the Saints or maybe a rookie like Knox for Chicago, for example. Not necessarily a premire player, but another piece to the puzzle.

I would like to see Doug Free play RT and they draft a guy for the LT position. They need to upgrade the left guard position.

posted this to another thread

Guys stayed healthier. Romo (despite this game) did a better job of protecting the ball and just not making too many stupid mistakes. Dallas is 3 deep at RB and TE. Dallas has a legit #1 WR in Miles Austin now. Doug Free has proven he can be a starter. Anthony Spencer will only get better. Mike Jenkins is turning into the CB we'd hoped he would. Scandrick has struggled but still developing well IMO.

There's a lot of guys that will be back. There's a lot to build on for next year. There are weaknesses that can be improved on. This team can be stronger next year.

And yes...IMO, Dallas should trade Roy and get whatever they can. I'm sure Dannyboy would take him.

As if we have anybody right now that can stretch the field. We've ignored that position in the draft since we drafted Jimmy Smith in '92 (i forgot about Antonio Bryant). We need at least two speedsters to complement Austin.
