First, I want to say great season to everyone here. I know we had higher hopes for our team, but if you had told most people that we'd finish the year 13-3, win the NFC East, AND host a playoff game, they would have told you that you were absolutely out of your mind. I know we're all fans of a proud team, with a rich tradition. So, we measure success in championships, not in regular season wins, but I think we should be proud of what our beloved Cowboys accomplished this season.
Secondly, as someone who has vowed not to buy a TO jersey, tonight changed my perception of the man and before next year starts I will have one. Did you see his post game press conference? The man seems to have grown up. I know he's made steps this whole season, but tonight when he told everyone that it was unfair to blame Romo, who was HIS teammate and HIS quarterback, because they lost as a TEAM. TO shows heart not just by playing hard, but he also showed me his heart is in the right place.
For the last two years I've said Barber shouldn't be the starter, for this team. I was on the JJ bandwagon still hoping he would regain the form that got us all excited as a rookie. I guess it was just wishful thinking. Well, I guess I take it back that Barber shouldn't start because he should. BUT, I'm sticking with my belief that Barber cannot carry the whole load. MB3 looked tired in the 2nd half. Imagine if he had a whole season of that. Dallas needs to find a new RB in the offseason. We need someone who can play effectively and allow Barber to get some rest so he can be productive late in games. I do NOT want JJ back in a Cowboys uniform again. I will gladly retire my JJ jersey if it means we have a running back that has some worth to the offense.
I think the OL looked terrible today. False starts and allowing Romo to get repeatedly hit was unacceptable. Also, receivers missing wide open passes shouldn't happen in the NFL. I blame the loss solely on those two things. Whoever blames the defense is unrealistic and probably didn't pay attention to how bad the offense was. If you had told me on Sunday morning that Dallas would hold the Giants to 21 points, I would tell you to chalk up a win. We scored 76 points against them in two games this year. The offense just made critical mistakes in crucial situations. There's no other reason we lost. The Giants played solid, but Dallas beat themselves.
Romo didn't play bad at all. He looked to lose his composure for a little while, but I can't blame him. His teammates didn't execute for many parts of the game. I think sometimes he tries a little too hard to make things happen and ends up getting sacked instead of just throwing the football away, but if we praise him for his improvisational skills when they work, we need to take the bad when they fail.
Personally, losing to the Giants hurts me the most. If we had lost to another team, I still would have been angry and flipped out, but losing to the Giants kills me. I live 15 minutes from Giants Stadium. Bergen County, NJ is Giants Country. I have to live with those arrogant and mostly fair weather fans all year long. I had when we lose a regular season game to the Giants, but this playoff actually hurt.
I want to end on a positive note, so here it goes: Congratulations guys and gals on a great season. This year was just another building block on our way to #6. Just think, on February 4th, everyone is 0-0 again. Here's to the right moves in the offseason, months of great chats with fellow fans, and a Super Bowl Championship next season!
HOW 'BOUT DEM COWBOYS?!
