Positives about hiring Norv

I'm telling you that Gore produced in a system that typically allows running backs to excel. Turner teaches them things that make them better players. that is what coaches do. Gore believes it and credits him for it. Gore does not side with you. Your star witness failed you and yet you still argue on. Good for you!

It's been shown in this thread that all of the RBs that have excelled in Norv's systems have excelled outside of Norv's systems. Gore's opinion is meaningless in this matter. Why that is has been shown to you, but you keep ignoring it. I would too if Gore's opinion was my only remaining straw I had to grasp.

Terry Allen had great seasons without Norval (including maybe his best season, in Minnesota)

Emitt Smith had great seasons without Norval (including his best season, in 1995)

Stephen Davis had great seasons without Norval (including his highest yardage season, in Carolina)

Ricky Williams had great seasons without Norval.

Frank Gore naturally progressed in his second season, like most players do, there's no doubt in Bob Dole's mind he would have had the same success without Norval.

They were great with Norval and great without him. They're just great players. Giving Norval credit for them is ludicrous.

I didn't say that Norv is solely responsible, as talent has something to do with it. But, if the scheme fails and the lanes aren't there, then the running back can't run. Running backs do well in his system and he deserves credit for utilizing running backs and getting the best out of them. He is a good teacher at the position and I have provided two of his players that named him as being instrumental, the two being Gore and Emmitt. He always fields good rushing attacks and his RBs get good coaching from him. To say that Gore succeeded without Norv's help when Gore volunteered that Norv has helped him become a better player is somewhat of a stretch. The 49ers offered him a big raise to keep him from interviewing with Dallas, so you'll forgive me if I think they side with me as well.

The 49ers reflected Gore's thoughts by trying to offer him a raise to not interview. I would say that's proof enough that the 49ers agree with me. My stats show that Gore's YPC got better with Norv. That is yards per carry, not carries. Your argument that he should be better in his second year is just an argument, it can be supported somewhat by stats, but never proven to a point where it would be factually accurate and anything other than a %. At the end of the day, it will only be your opinion. I offer the opinion of the person that matters the most, which is the person in question. I typically try not to offer opinions when I'm making an argument. I like to stick with facts -- something you should look into.

You haven't shown a single stat that indicates that Norv is even partially responsible for Gore's slight improvement. All you've offered is the quote.
