Positives about hiring Norv

I didn't lash out. But then, I didn't lose an argument. In fact, you failed to ever put one forth. The "stats argument" was pretty funny.

Oh, here is that piece from Aikman's HOF article. Funny he said Irvin felt the same way. I had read it from Emmitt as well, but you'll forgive me if I don't feel like looking too much since you have brought forth nothing concrete to dispute my stance.

"We went from last in the league in offense my second season to Norv's first season of being ninth in the league. The next few years we won Super Bowls. And not only myself, but I know when Michael and Emmitt and I went into the Ring of Honor in Dallas a few years ago, it was a press conference to announce that. Both Michael and Emmitt credit Norv Turner for getting their careers in the right direction as well. So his impact on our football team was very profound. "

It is almost admirable how you manage to shut everything out like you do when you lose an argument. Good Defense mechanism.

This was fun, when you regroup with an actual argument come find me. I might not be online until Tuesday though!

What does this have to do with Norv improving Gore's stats?

Are you trying to pass opinion off as an logical argument again?

You were completely destroyed in this thread. Good luck in life. I'm sure you'll be very successful.

Norv in Dallas doesn't make Romo as consistent as Aikman. Romo needs a coach who can make him focus on avoiding the turnovers by being a little intimidating, like Jimmy did with Troy. It is all fine and dandy that Norv's scheme suited Troy, but if Troy did not stop turning the ball over, Jimmy would have run him out of town, and Troy knew that. To develop into a QB who doesn't make hairbrained plays, you have to have your playing career forged by that kind of head coach who insists on the near total elimination of mistakes.

Take a look at the team turnover numbers for the teams Norv has been a head coach for --- not great. As Norv takes on more responsibilities, his offenses become less precise because he is spread more thinly.

The job of an offensive coordinator is to run a scheme that works for your talent. The Job of a head coach is to apply pressure where required to acheive the desired results. We really don't need 2 offensive coordinators.

I think he is exactly NOT the head coach Romo needs.

we can revisit this at the end of next season if Norv isnt their offensive coordinator

and being injured didnt keep Mcgahee from being drafted high did it?

If Frank Gore starts 14-16 games next year, Illbet you your lunch money he goe sfor 1300+ plus. Thats not because of Norv or anyone else, he's that good.

he's just good for the team because he's good for romo. and wether people like it or not, this team will only go as far as romo will take them.period

i think we have forgotten how important a QB is to a team since it hasnt had one in a decade. dallas has one now, and taking care of him is best

The Bears defense took them to the SB.

Are you trying to argue that Norv was the cause of Gore's stats getting better because Gore's stats were better?
It was all Larry Allen.:D

Frank Gore was a beast in college but always had injury problems leading him to be burried in the depth chart behind Portis and McGahee and some other dude.

Everyone knew he was talented and could become a featured back but his two ACL tears or w.e was a huge concert. Norv might have helped Gore but its not like Gore was some scrub he turned into a star. Gore was more touted coming into college than Clinton Portis and Willis McGahee. He was expected to start over both of them.

1. Tony Romo's development.
2. Julius Jones's can be next year's Gore.
3. Jason Witten will get better.
4. This year's draft. He just coached in the Senior Bowl.

Negatives
1. Jerry Jones undermining the coach. He's like the grandfather that spoils his grandchildren. He doesn't mean harm but that's what he does.
2. Jerry Jones influencing the draft.
3. Jerry Jones meddling.

Since BP didn't quit next year when we could have had Jeff Fisher, Cower or Lovie Smith, Norv seems like the best choice as long as we get a DC that can light a fire under this young defense.

He will inspire a slew of new nicknames if hired...
Coach Leatherface
Pumice Face
CraterFace
Moonraker
Norv-al-dente
Larval Turner

Didn't Jerry NOT do any of that with Parcells here?? How'd that work out?

Norv get alot of credit for the Cowboys success and maybe deservedly so but he also had HOFamers on offense with a Pro Bowlers on the line. Barry Switzer showed that anybody could win with that team.

This still doesnt take away his genius but Norv can only be as good as the QB allows him. In Wash, Miami, and Oakland, Norv really didnt have a team to work with nor a QB to lead his team.

These stats about how Norv teams have perform does not give justice to how he will do here. I think he will have alot more support and a better team to coach.

I would be pleasantly surprise to see Julius Jones play better with Norv and see him used differently than the way Parcells used him. Julius I think is untapped talent and I think he was not used properly by Parcells system. I think the biggest improvements will be with him and how he is used.

I think that T.O. will also have more timing throws to the outside and more slants thrown his way. Corners play off of him so much and Parcells never took advantage of that. I also see patrick crayton getting more involved and more deep patterns for speedster Terry Glenn.

Norv definetely has more ideas and will be great for Romo but the test will come on defense and how that plays out.

Todd Bowles is not it for DC. I like the idea of bring Campo back and the 4-3. I think this will be great because at least you have a good (not great) staff and a good team that is playoff ready.

I think parcells failed in getting the most out of this team and he also failed in the Xs and Os and allows them to play to their strengths. The defense was very basic and so was the offense.

Bringing in Norv and Campo would be a good move for the cowboys to get a new voice and a new way of playing football. If it doesnt work then there will be a number of coaches available next year. Cower, Jeff Fisher, maybe Lovie Smith, or Bill Bilichek.
