Possibilty we aren't as good

I hear it too.

Right now, we're the team that got blown out 34-3 in Minnesota back in January. We can't open up holes in the running game and can't protect Romo. While it's impossible to judge a defense in preseason, we are not executing basic schemes very well which doesnt give me worlds of confidence.

Will we improve? Almost certainly. Will it be enough to win us a title? With the current state of the offensive line (with or without Columbo and Kosier), I doubt it. I had blown it off over the first two games, but at this point I don't think anyone can deny we have serious issues along the line that we failed to address. Ironically enough, the only spot on te line that looks to be in great hands at this point is the one we were all mot worried about, left tackle. Free has been nothing short of great thus far.

Thats funny, because I was starting to get an early 1990's vibe, but that may have more to do with Roy's mustache and the way the lights make Wade's hair look a little silver every now and then...JIMMY COME HOME!

Remeber guys we werent plaing good football last year until the Saints game.
The current Cowboys might be the team before the Saints.

Guess we'll find out in two weeks.

I think we were every bit as good as everyone thought and simply met a better team at their house when they were fired up.

I don't think people were expecting our two pro-bowl interior linemen to suddenly hit a wall as they did in that Minnesota game. I know I wasnt.

There's only so much stuff you can do. Colombo was far worse that day than anyone else. He's the one who kept getting beat for easy sacks and TFL's, not the others. Once Adams went out, we were cooked because Free had to go to LT, instead of possibly replacing Colombo.

Not sure if I agree with this. Washington was a BAD football team last year, and this will be their first game with an entirely new staff. I'm not sure they are a good measuring stick. Now obviously, if we blow them out it will be a statement, but as fired up as they will be I'll be surprised if we are able to do that.

Most werent expecting Columbo to never be the same again after the injury, either. He appears to be on his last legs if that game and this offseason/preseason are any real indication

Commanders were not a bad football team. They almost beat the Saints and were competitive all season long. They have a top 5 Defense and have enough weapons to put a lot of points on the board. Plus they have a real QB that knows the Cowboys very well. I do not expect a blowout and if that is your expectations, then you will be disappointed. We are going into a hornets nest and it will be an ugly win. If we come out with a win, that in itself should be impressive enough.

Oh I did. We played better than I expected us to.

We are not as good as some on here thought we would be after picking up Dez, lol thats for sure, but we are a whole lot better than was shown last night.
Not sure how you can make that assessment when Dez hasn't even played a down... :laugh1:

can we let the team play a regular season or two before we decide how good they are?

We really can't. The offensive line has been suspect from last year. This pre-season has shown that it hasn't gotten better and in fact worse. The starters were there for the first 2 pre-season games and they sucked like last night. Jerry needs to work some magic and make a trade.

You really just kind of answered your on question here.

What's troublesome is while we've had the most talent since the mid '90's, it's being squandered by leaving it in the hands of Wade, Garrett and Campo - and by ignoring the OL.

Our wanna-be GM cut the 90's dynasty short and he's now in the process over a dozen years later of wasting our best opportunities since then.
