Possible to bring Tapper back at the end of the year?

I know he went on IR but maybe it would be possible to return near the end of the year and bring even more speed to the defense. It would be good to see him rotating with these guys. I would think he would be our 3rd best defensive end right now.

Has anyone heard of his progress?

No, he's done for year.
I am guessing next year he and and Charlton team up to replace the highly paid Crawford.

Keep in mind we've been sitting a decent DE every week anyway.

Crawford is the leader of the DL...he will be back.

We can afford him and we don’t want to take anything from the short window we have before Dak gets his 200 million dollar contract.

Don't buy that.
DLaw and David Irving are gonna cost a whole lot more next year.
Think Crawford is one to go to make that affordable. Post June cut frees up lots of cap space and Crawford simply isn't worth a 9m cap hit.
If he wants to help us out and take a pay cut similar to Doug Free than of course keep him around after restructure.

Irving is restricted free agent. He won’t cost much.

Lawrence will either be tagged or he will have a lower hit than the tag if we resign him.

We won’t cut him unless we are really strapped for money.

Yeah honestly if Crawford keeps playing well he will probably be brought back. Scandrick has played well but I could see them getting rid of him before Crawford.

Combo of numbers game and salary imho.
Tapper/Charlton/DLaw are all outside only guys.
Irving plays everywhere.
Can get a cheap 4th DE or draft another one.

DLaw tagged would cost around ~17m.

We are in a window with a legit super bowl championship defense??

No we have a super expensive offense that is takes up 3 to 1 of the cap compared to the defense

Then throw daks contract back in the mix in 2 years

Scandrick is definitely gone unless the kids get injured again. He's a nickel only and Dallas wants Chido or Lewis at nickel back.

TCraw likely gone as the team wants Tapper/Charlton to get those snaps. Much, much cheaper with more pass rush upside.

Crawford has been injured a lot and even healthy his value is middling.

Witten and Dez will both be off the books in 2 years or going off. The DL resurgence and those 2 going off will help balance the books.
But if we keep all these OL and Zeke to go with Dak then yea... gotta pay cheap, recently drafted kids somewhere.

Actually, I think they'd like to have Irving in the DE rotation if they could find enough decent DT's.

Why would you bring Tapper back? There is absolutely no reason. It's like the people begging to bring back Gregory. Why???? Our DL has enough pass rushers at this point. We are likely going to have two guys with double digits and another two probably around 8.

I'd like to see it, if for no other reason than to replace Mayowa. Let Tapper gain some experience, and actually see if the guy can play or not. That way you're better prepared going into 2018 knowing what you have and what you don't.

What we need is a 1T DT, not another DE

And Romo gets another $8.9 mil next year, then done?

Is this a serious question?
You bring Tapper back because he's signed, cheap and young with great upside.

Irving is too good inside over OC to not ever play there but they like being able to move Irving around to take advantage of match ups and give OLs nightmares.
