I heard Washington offered a #1 and a #3 for Miles Austin.

I'd take it in a heartbeat. If Cleveland "didn't" pan out then we for sure would have the #1 pick anyway...

We could realistically get a 6th for Austin? So why not keep Austin and just trade our 2008 6th pick to Washington for their 1st and 3rd. I would probably do that

washington is not that stupid, they would never take a draft pick in return for their 1st and 3rd, after all draft is a crap shoot, right? OTOH for proven players like brandon loyd, radle el, miles austin or coakley (threw that in for old times sake)? they do that in a heartbeat.

I picked Tony Curtis as our 3rd TE when I posted my projected roster several weeks ago. He doesn't have great speed but is a solid blocker and has good hands. After his performance against the Colts I could see some teams being interested in acquiring him but it wouldn't be for much.

I would prefer to get a player in trade for him rather than a draft pick which would likely be a conditional 6th rounder at best. I would rather trade Curtis and a conditional 6th round pick for a backup NT but I think we will probably wait to see who is cut and select one from that pool than to trade for one but if the right deal came along then I'd take it.

The Commanders have a LONG history of trading away high draft picks for veteran players. Since 1969 they have traded away their first round pick 21 times, 11 times in a row from 1969-1979.

From 1972-1979 under George Allen they didn't pick higher than the 4th round. The 97th pick was their highest selection during that 8 year stretch.

They continued the trend in the 80s under Joe Gibbs trading away their top pick in: 1982 and from 85-90.

The Commanders traditionally don't value draft picks except as trade bait. Of course, judging from the selections they made with the 1st rounders they did keep maybe they were smart to trade them away instead.

I want to keep Curtis. There is room on the roster for a 3rd TE and with as many 2 TE sets I expect to see us in this year we would be stupid not to break camp with 3.

Hmmmm..... I don't know about that. You never know what you can get with a 6th round pick. The greatness of a 6th round pick is the mystery that surrounds it. I mean, you know what you are getting with a 1st round pick and have a pretty decent idea about the 3rd round pick, but the 6th round pick could end up being greater than the 1st and 3rd. And a 7th rounder is even better than a 6th, which is why I am in favor of trading all of our picks to various teams for 20+ 6th and 7th round picks...we are sure to find at least ONE stud with those odds... just kidding....

Honestly, I do think we could get at least a 4th maybe even a 3rd from the Commanders if we were to trade Crayton. A team has to be pretty desperate for wide receivers when they sign Todd Pinkston and Corey Bradford.... I would pull the trigger on that if Sam Hurd continues to prove himself as a 3rd WR option.

I wonder if teams are inquiring about a Kicker?

Hey, I can hope. I like getting something for nothing.

dallas might be shopping lb'ers for cb help.

word is

akin, carp, or burnett

According to Mac Engel, the Cowboys are trying to trade one of their LB for DB help. I guess they are not comfortable with what they got right now in terms of depth. I'm shocked do see Ayodele name there.

So if we are trying to get a nickelback then Glenn, Ball, Reeves, Jones, Butler, and Thomas must be sucking.

wow. kinda covering their bases here, ya think?

like "to be or not to be!"

or

"it was the best of times, it was the worst of times!"

if you name 'em all i guess you can say you got it right when 1 of 'em happens.

I'm betting we play some football saturday night!
