I live more of a Hilly area vs Mountains but we get our fair share of snow.

As far as hot and humid...loved in florida and lived in Louisiana...Louisiana seemed more hot and humid but when I was in Florida it was on the gulf so maybe that made a difference.

Were you in the Tampa area?

Not sure if you posted it, but what type of jobs are you and your wife looking for.

I live in Richmond, VA. You could not pay me enough to live in Northern VA. There are some nice things to visit there, but no way I could handle the traffic in that area.

Depending on your job, Richmond has a pretty good job market. Capital One, Altria and CarMax are all big employers in Richmond.

As for weather, it gets humid in the summer and can be miserable. Our winters are not very severe. We do get snow on occasion, but winter weather isn't too bad. You just have to deal with morons on the road. Spring and Fall are really nice. Lately, it is hard to figure out our weather. I think we've had more days in the 60s than the 30s in December.

It is definitely a suburb city, though the downtown area is improving. LOTS of new breweries opening up in town.

I'd also recommend the Raleigh area. Similar climate and growing.

Thanks for the info! My wife works in education with curriculum and instructional technology. She's also looking for those types of jobs that aren't in education. I'm a stay at home dad and photographer. I mainly shoot live entertainment (concerts, theatre, and dance) and outdoor headshots. I have my own business and I do pretty well so I will have to re-establish my business in a new city that'll probably take a little while. My wife's job however is the more important one because my photography is part time because I'm busy enough with our three kids lol. @Yakuza Rich recommended Raleigh and we are actually going to visit the area next week for a couple of days. We did a job search last night for my wife and she already found at least 5 jobs that she's qualified for and we're guessing that there will be a lot more in the research triangle area.

So my family and I checked out the Raleigh area and loved it! Looking like we're going to make the move down there in the coming months. I'm glad I created this thread and was talked out of Atlanta lol.
