Hate all the resigns but I am sure we'll be overpaying for corner play somehow. I am very meh on McClain and would not throw any guarenteed money at him. He gets knicked up too much and I dont believe in his commitment. FAs: Like Rubin and you can have the rest. As for your draft, I would do cart wheels but I think 1 and 2 end up Goff and Nkemdiche.

I Love the first three picks... But I just can't see them waiting to the fourth round to address the defense.

Good draft. I want defense heavy but i would not be disappointed with the offensive weapons you pulled. Would want more defensive holes filled through free agency tho.

I just don't see us passing on Wentz if he's available, and between the top 10 and where we pick again I don't see a player that I think the Cowboys would value at each subsequent pick.

I would love to see us take Nkemdiche at 34, or Austin Johnson, or another large DT like Jarran Reed, but the Cowboys simply do not value the 1T position. They love some Nick Hayden, for some reason.

As for the rest of it, there is nobody available at cost either via the draft or free agency aside from Jalen Ramsey who I think is going to be better than the combination of Morris and Carr -- especially when considering the opportunity cost. Remember, Carr and Claiborne were a part of a defense that was #5 in passing yards allowed. For all of the vitriol spit all over this board, they really aren't as bad as anybody thinks. In fact, they have actually been quite good. Carr especially - he's played good football since the latter half of 2014's season. And he's never missed a game.

I think they'll get extended at team-friendly deals. I also think (wink, wink) there's a chance Brandon Carr sticks around with his contract being completely untouched . . .

I agree on Wentz. If he is their then he needs to be the pick.

I can see Nkemdiche being our pick at 34. After his combine interviews, he has fallen off boards. I got some heat in my mock for putting him at 34 but its what we would do. Gregory is not going to scare this team from picking a top talent that has fallen due to baggage. If not him then i would hope for Vernon Butler. He is going to be a big time talent in a couple of years.

you make a good point about Mo and Carr. At this point alot of fans wont care as long as Carr takes a paycut. Its fun talking about signing Trumaine Johnson or Janoris Jenkins but its not going to happen.

The opportunity cost of signing Trumaine Johnson or Janoris Jenkins is that you get a player who MAYBE ends up performing on his second deal, and maybe not, at a price that ultimately ends up being more than you would pay Carr this year and an extra year or two combined -- even if you retain Carr at his current number and wait to do a new deal after it expires this season.

I think Claiborne returns. Nobody is going to overspend on him given his film over the course of his young career - he's barely played. I think Carr sticks too, possibly with the team choosing to simply pay what he's owed. We are never big players in free agency and there aren't any huge names this year that I can see us adding that truly make us better. One small restructure of Tyron Smith's deal gets us enough space to add a few mid-tier veterans, depth guys, special teamers, and have enough for the rookie pool AND pay Carr $12M AND still have cap space leftover for mid-season moves.

People need to actually look at the math. His cap number was 8.8% of the total team cap last season, and it's the same this year if the Cowboys do nothing else. If they paid him 8.8% of the cap last year, what makes anybody think they'd all of a sudden cut him after a pretty solid season at the same cap percentage of 8.8%?

I do think we will be re-sign heavy as we are every year.
Best value is the one in house most times.

Carr is probably gone because it is often harder to keep a guy and renegotiate versus him getting a brand new deal somewhere else that can be spread over 3/4 years.
