Post draft recap

Who said it was elite? Cowboys month pieces? I've seen nothing but average reaction from "experts".
Pro Football Focus did, Rob Rang of CBS sports also gave us a "A", USA Today give us an "B", NY Post give us a "B-", Chad Rueter, NFL.com said it was "A-", Andy Benoit of MMQB gave an "C+"

I really think Dallas missed out on an opportunity to add another solid linebacker to the mix. Okorowonko was there really late. He would have been a nice addition to the linebacking corps and would have been a situational edge rusher.

We have Lee (awesome but old and injury prone)
Smith (young, ascending, but slow to diagnose and still recovering from his knee)
Wilson (marginal talent--couldn't beat out a gimp)
LVE (great upside but very raw)

We needed one more linebacker who could play. OBO carried greater value than Hitchens in my opinion. He should have been snagged in the 4th round with one of those 3 picks.

I think Joe Thomas is a pretty good backup who can step in and start if needed.

Gallup
6-1
205
4.45 forty
36 vert

Ridley
6-0
189
4.43 forty
31 vert
I think you are being a miss leading with your numbers. Here are their stats from the Combine.

Ridley is a better prospect and who I was referencing in the original post. If you wanted a 6 ft 200 lb WR... draft Ridley at 19. Gallup and Ridley are the same size but Ridley is a little faster and WAY more polished.

I would not give a B's and C's "Elite" grade status.

A+ is Elite
A/A- is Good
B's are average
C's are below average
D is Bad
F is the Browns (aka horrible) LOL

Again, I said "AVERAGE" reaction... a bunch of B's. Not to say these grades mean anything!! Cuz they don't, I didn't bring them up. But to say our Draft was elite is nonsense. Maybe in 5 years, we can have that talk, but I'm going to guess it'll be closer to Average than Elite.

No, Gallup ran a 4.45 at his Pro-Day.

Gallup is right behind Ridley as a polished route runner.

Ridley will turn 24 during the season. Gallup will be 22 throughout the season.

:lmao::lmao2::laugh: No Disrespect, but is this your first draft? Pro Day 40s are a joke. They only time they are used is if they don't run at the combine and even then are not taken seriously.

I've been following the draft for a long time. Probably before you were born.

I'm surprised Vander Esch didn't get drafted earlier. He is less risk than Edmunds. More likely to understand the complexities of NFL schemes and better measurables in most areas except the forty.

Your big misunderstanding is on the WR Gallup. Just because the draft media was not all over him. Some people actually had him rated higher than Ridley.
They were to two best route runners in this draft and both are quality hands catchers.

Gallup is who I wanted if we didn't go WR in the first. He catches everything and is a route running WR that uses his hands and gets separation. He is the perfect compliment to Dak.

I agree with you somewhat. First you need trading partners and second you don't want to risk losing him. The Titans and Steelers were right behind and probably would have taken him. Titans took Evans so it shows they were interested in MLB as well.

Big Dog, you are right it takes two to play this game.
I would like to seen us milk some value out of our pick. We needed as many high draft picks as possible as we did very little to address needs in FA.

I have no issues with the LVE pick especially if he was the top guy on the board, but the problem is have is with the context in which it happened. We could have easily moved down a few spots and gotten him.
Look at the packers for example, they trade down from 14 to 27 with the Saints. Give 14, get #27 + plus next years Saints first founder and this years 5th round pick.
Next they trade with Seattle and move back up to 18th. They got the 18th plus a 7th rounder, while the Hawks got 27, plust a third and sixth.
Packers also got the best CB in the draft.
In summary LVE was good, but getting him at 19 was not the right move.
Its easy to say we should have traded out but with who?
To trade you need a partner, GB didn't trade out NO trade up, its clear they were the ones to make the move.

He looks like an upgrade to TWill on day 1 and has #1 WR potential, IMO.
