The Cowboys were too dominant tonight for that game to be so close. Made me way too nervous. Favre gets knocked out, and Rodgers promptly starts causing the team all kinds of trouble, while the Dallas offense stalls because of some bad timing and miscues.
Anyone else think the Cowboys decided to play really soft coverage against Rodgers with the idea being that they weren't going to let one play derail them. It was almost like they didn't believe that the young kid could keep driving the team down the field, and they were going to force him to do that. I've seen the team do that several times this year, and the common denominator is that it always seems to happen against QBs who haven't shown much. Whether it's Grossman, Campbell, or Rodgers, the defense gets a little passive and wants to make the offense methodically drive the ball down the field instead of leaving themselves vulnerable to something quicker and deeper.
Great job by the O-Line. Those guys deserve a ton of credit. Kampman did nothing against the guy Bill picked up off the scrap heap.
Tony Romo is a stud. No one can honestly doubt him anymore, and if they do, you can automatically write that person off as an idiot.
Marion Barber is a bad man. When you constantly hear opposing coaches talk about how they fear him, and you see him wear down a defense late, you know you've got something special.
Great game for the TEs. Witten was huge when it mattered; Romo's security blanket. Fasano is much better than almost anyone in this league knows.
TO was a monster early. Had some dropsies tonight that made the game much closer than it should have been. Got to hold on to that TD.
Patrick Crayton is another guy who is really underappreciated. He just gets open and makes catches.
Before I forget, how about Miles Austin? Big game for him. Did a great job on kick returns, and he was a deep threat on the field, whether you liked the PI calls or not.
Nick Folk is good.
Really good coverage teams tonight too!
Good job by the D-Line. Other than the big Grant TD run, that group did a pretty nice job.
Ellis and Ware are playing great off the edge. Greg Ellis has found the fountain of youth, and you'll be hard-pressed to find a better, more complete LB in the league than D.Ware.
Great game from the safeties. Hamlin whiffed on Grant's TD, and Roy might have been out of position (couldn't tell), but they more than made up for it. Hamlin got a pick again, and Roy was an absolute force. And yeah, folks, he covered well too.
Newman is going to the Pro-Bowl this year. I can feel it. Another pick for him.
Nate Jones did a great job on his blitz that took out Favre.
A couple of missed tackles from Nate and Watkins hurt the Cowboys on one drive.
Henry was better than I expected. Hope he's getting better all the time.
Great game plan against Favre and that spread offense. I thought the game changed when the QBs changed. Dallas didn't look the same after that, as mentioned above.
I know the Packers were short-handed tonight, but the Cowboys aren't exactly at full strength either, right? That's a pet-peeve.
Speaking of pet-peeves, Gumble is bad. I read an article about him last week where he was talking about knowing his limitations and wishing he had a better football voice. I actually felt bad for him. Then I listen to him continue to get names wrong and sort of call the game like he's giving an opinion on "Inside Sports", and I just get annoyed. I mean, come on! That was bad...
Chris Collinsworth, I still like you. I might be the only one, but he's willing to say what he thinks, even if you may not agree with it.
Big win. It doesn't prove a ton, and it doesn't even mean that much if you turn around and lose a game you need to win, but I thought the Cowboys certainly looked like the class of the NFC. The Packers were beat up a little bit, but I thought some of their guys played better than expected, and I thought Dallas gave a pretty average game for about two quarters as well. But you take the win, and you enjoy the long week off. These guys have earned a shot to get healthier.
