I mean, everyone knows if the returner muffs the punt the kicking team can recover. I don't get why everyone now thinks the rule is dumb.

The returner didn't muff it. It was blocked then a Dallas player touched it which gave Denver a first down. Dumb rule.

How is that different than a player dropping a punt? The rule hasn't changed.
