I played a Taylor acoustic for the first time yesterday. So sweet. If I had had the $1400 they wanted for it, I would have bought it on the spot. What an amazing guitar.

I've played many acoustics and I prefer Taylor acoustics. (which is why I own 2!)

I have a Taylor Big Baby. (about $400 new) The sides and back aren't even wood and that guitar still sounds and plays better what many guitars that cost 6x the amount.

Don't even get me started on my 414ce!!!

I have a Taylor Big Baby I will have to get a picture of. I had a green Ibanez which I'm pretty sure I have a picture of somewhere.

When I bought mine I tried a bunch of Gibsons and Ovations but the Taylor won hands down. Also tried an eight thousand dollar Taylor. Kinda wish I never tried that beauty!

The one with Brazilian Rosewood and the cutaways around the body so it's not sharp corners (like many non-Gibson electrics) right?

I'm planning on building a custom strat out of warmoth parts.

I keep looking at the parts there, but by the time I spec it out it's expensive as hell and I have no idea what it will actually end up like. I hear their quality is great, but hah. That said, it's like cooking. If you don't know what you're doing. You could end up with a $2k POS. I really don't want a $2 POS guitar.

My rig looks very similar to this. The difference is that my 1978 Olympic Blond Fender Precision still has the original hardware on the bottom, but the condition and the case are the same.

I'll be working with a very experienced luthier on this project. With his guidance I'll buy only very high quality parts and then he'll assemble and set it up. It's gonna be a great guitar. And exactly what I want.

Less than a month ago, I also bought a Yamaha acoustic for the purpose of getting back into playing after years absent.

Now to journey down memory lane. Here I am in about 1982 with my '76 Gibson Firebired.

I study mostly blues in the style of SRV, Joe Bonammasa, Clapton, and many others, as well as some classical and flamenco.

That's funny that you mentioned my SG because the day before yesterday I gave it to my son who plays in a band. I initially bought it to have it set up for slide guitar, then found out I can't play slide for crap, so I had it set back down then gave it to my son...should have asked me two days ago! lol My blue PRS CE girl is named Chrolette, I named her after Jerry's daughter...lol...go Cowboys!

Do you still have the Firebird?

Aw, crap, I've been doxxed. J/K. I sold the Firebird in about 1993 when I was short on cash. There could be another Firebird in my future, but more burning desires are for an Ibanez Iceman, which I always wanted, the Superstrat that I talked about in an earlier post, and a high-end acoustic. For years, I thought that would be a Martin, but now I'm starting to suspect it will be a Taylor.
