Payton Wilson reminds me of Fred Warner. Good size, super fluid, athletic, Injury history though.

I like Colson. He moves well for a 240 lb. guy.

Ty'Ron Hopper pops everytime I watch Mizzou play.
I’m a fan of Junior Colson. It may be his jersey number (#25) or something, but I have a hard time believing he’s 240 lbs. He looks like he’s in the 220s to me.

Either way, I like the way he works his way off blocks and keeps moving forward. I absolutely hated the way LVE fought off blocks.

Colson scares me in coverage sometimes.

But we need the bulk and he seems like good (run) instincts. The Combine will let us all know what he actually weighs in at. If he's closer to 220 lbs., which he very could be, my interest lessons.

From Bruce Feldman's Freak List....

Trevin Wallace, Kentucky, linebacker

This guy was a huge get for Kentucky out of Jesup, Ga. In 2021, he made the SEC’s All-Freshman team, and last year he posted 54 tackles, 5.5 TFLs, 2.5 sacks and intercepted two passes. The former high school track star — who once jumped 23-4 1/4 inches to break a school record that stood for 44 years and also won the state weightlifting title with a 335-pound power clean — is now up to 242 pounds, but still runs 22 MPH on the GPS and vertical-jumps 38.5 inches. His power clean is now up to 380 and he squats almost 600.
Instincts? We need a banger in the middle with great instincts if there is one.

Seen a thread for one specific LB but wanted a thread where we could bring up some different ones.

Possible some that might fall to different areas of the draft.

Here are a few names that some might be able to talk about, whether you would like them or not and where

J.Trotter Jr
Edgerrin Cooper
Cedric Gray
Payton Wilson
Tommy Eichenberg
Junior Colson
Jaylan Ford
Tyronn Hopper
Tyrice Knight
Edgerrin Cooper and Cedric Gray.

love this guy. one of the few guys that could play MLB in this class.

The most of them are very light OLB type of guys
He’s going back to school. But wow:

Iowa Linebacker Jay Higgins this season:

86.9 PFF Grade
146 Tackles
55 Defensive Stops
Zero TDs Allowed
90.4 Coverage Grade

should have declared as the LB class is weak as hell

It’s not great…I haven’t diven in much yet but from the little I’ve watched and read it sounds like the well rounded dudes that’ll give you + snaps against the run are:

Cooper
Trotter
Gray

Watch Gray get snatched right in front of Dallas in the 2nd round.

I think we need to spend in FA to get a good MLB. The Draft doesnt really have one guy i liked besides Higgins that stays in school

The rest are twitch quick guys in the 220-230 lbs range. We need a hard hitter that holds up on the LOS against the Run.

I want my MLB to be 250 lbs.

Even if PFF is flawed, their Top 3 LB's (since I stopped paying for the subscription ) are:
  • Fred Warner - 235lbs.
  • Demario Davis - 248
  • Tyrell Dodson - 238
So, while size is DEFINITELY a wonderful thing, the MOST IMPORTANT ASPECTS of playing LB in the NFL should be instincts/smarts and toughness/physicality. Being 250 w/ 4.4 speed don't mean jack if you never know where to go (see Clark, Damone).

Being a ND grad, I've seen him a lot. Not sure where the draft guides have him, but I'd be OK with him in the later rounds. Seems like he'd be a decent situational/back up type, maybe develop into decent, not great starting LB. Dude has a lot of energy, but at times can get out over his skis and either run himself out of position or be off balance. Pretty good in coverage. Pretty athletic.

If you are looking for a high motor, sufficiently athletic guy, he would fit the bill.
