Post your surprise

Any Cowboys related surprise between now and game 4?

Don't include anything related to Micah.

Biggest cut surprises?

Surprise starters for game 1?

Shotty coach of the year?

Some of mine:

Safety Donovan Wilson cut.
-- That's 6M they don't have to pay.

LB Clark starts (in 3 LB sets).

CB Zion Childress is the Nickel CB.

OG Booker is the 2nd best OG in the NFL thru 4 games.

LT Nathan Thomas starts game 1.
- Guyton not enough practice time after recovering from injury.

QB Grier cut.
- Stays on practice squad for 3 games then signed to 53.
- Active ps call- up on game days.

One or both of Booth and Mukuamu cut.

Pickens and CeeDee top WR duo in first goalie.

For fun:
Milton completes 70% of passes in the final preseason game.
- OK, just joking on this one...

Milton is the backup QB for game 1 but only used for Tush-Push plays.
- Makes highlight reel for doing backflip over the entire OL/DL on 4th and 1 at the goalline.
Micah has 2 sacks week 1 or does he intentionally sit because Lane Johnson is his nemesis?

You want a surprise?

Dallas signs Micah Parsons, DaRon Bland, and Tyler Smith to extensions all on the same day.

Okay I am done. Comedy has never been my strong point. Moving on.....
You know you can't ever get a handle on the front office so expect the unexpected all the time.. Thought they would extend Ferguson already that was in my opinion a little early, but it was a surprise there was rumblings about Bland.

So when you look at it maybe the hold up other than marketing and the hype that we're talking about it could be they're trying to figure out how to overlap and fit the puzzle pieces together you remember that little quote people just kind of overlooked with Jerry..

I think he means they can't afford it under the cap and what he means is they're trying to figure out how to front load or back load and get the contracts to overlap properly so they can get more of them done..

To say it will happen but it's not crazy enough to dismiss that it could happen....

Dak was 2nd in the entire NFL in TD to INT ration year before last. He’s always been one of the better QB’s at limiting interceptions. So you don’t know what you’re talking about.
Let's just forget 2022 and last year.

Mazi will start. They will split time. Mazi comes out on 3rd down obviously passing situations.

It does. It matter if he sucks. We don't have anyone better and history shows we will not be adding anyone that is a significant improvement.

Mazi's contract is guaranteed. Easy decision.
What do you mean "if" he sucks?

We will have one day with no Jerry, Micha, mazi, Dak threads

He'll need to make the roster as a first step, but I agree. What I've seen has been promising and I believe our OL coaching structure is improved for the development of our young players.
I agree this is a good player for a 6th round pick, looks like a keeper to me.

No. USUALLY, but not ALWAYS. 2022 12 games 15 Interceptions (and 2 more in the playoffs). 2024 8 games 8 Interceptions (only 11 TDs)

Jack in the Box
Jack in the Box

Surprise!

All the way through the center of field by this defense. A strong offensive line proud of opening holes and leaving Prescott on his feet longer.

He T. McClain has been gone since the 2016 season and you might be the only fan that remembers him.

I'll say Winfrey reminds me of Golston.
- Not as tall but both have very long arms.

Winfrey played some snaps at DE in the final ps game and had some pressures from that spot.

Payton Turner played some snaps inside.

As a utility DL with position flex, I've seen more from Winfrey than from Turner.
- Much more energy from Winfrey.

Turner has the Mazi look of "I don't really enjoy this".
Haha. McClain if you remember was a tweener that gave the team some rush abilities at the 1. Haven’t been impressed with Turner either and don’t see him making the final roster

My biggest surprise / shocker will be Shotty getting fired at the end of the season.

Diggs led the NFL with 11 interceptions in 2021, the most in the league since Everson Walls had the same number for Dallas as a rookie in 1981.

DaRon Bland, who had a record five interception returns for touchdowns two years ago, is the only other established starter at cornerback. Kaiir Elam, acquired from Buffalo in the offseason, is the other starter on the unofficial depth chart.

Caelen Carson started five games when Bland was injured last season, and Andrew Booth started twice among his seven games.

He will start on the 53 man roster...just waiting until he walks out to the secondary.
