Freaking dead period sucks, cant wait for training camp to start!!! Anyway, I was thinking of which players we have now that would fall in that category.

I say Tyron Smith and Dez Bryant as obvious choices, If Romo could win a title or two, I would definitely put him in.

As for other teams besides Brady & Manning, I would say Megatron, Adrian Peterson, Larry Fitzgerald, Revis and Earl Thomas would be in, I would have included Patrick Peterson but he retired too soon.
And I would not put Eli Manning in, if it were not for his defense and those two catches, he would not have any rings.
Have a good hump day Cowboy family, the season cant get here fast enough!!!

Witten has a good shot, and Romo if he wins a super bowl or two.

As far as other teams, gotta include DeMarcus Ware.

Not to go down this rabbit hole again, but Ware isn't a HOF. Kevin Greene, who has over 30 more career sacks isn't and if we're saying Ware is HOF, then so is Jared Allen, and I'm not ready to say that.

If the Boys contend another 2-3 years and get to 1-2 NFC CC games then Romo gets in IMO. Witten 1st ballot. Ware 1st ballot.

Too soon for T Smith but he could make it. Same with Dez.

1-2 of our other OL may also make it. Long ways to go for them.

Hardy has a shot. 1-2 other DL may surprise but way way too early now.

Lee has a shot if he can stay healthy esp if we win 1-2 SBs.

There is some talent on this team.

You have a good point. If Denver wins a SB or gets to 1-2 and Ware shines then shoe in IMO. But he's not a lock although I think he gets in eventually.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame Board of Selectors will demonstrate their anti-Cowboys bias yet again if Witten isn't inducted first ballot. Witten will be enshrined. The only question is whether he will get screwed five years after he retires.

Dez will have to continue his high level of play for a long while to be HOF worthy.

WR stats, like QB stats, are skyrocketing on a year to year basis.

Dez's TD stats are tops, but he Yards and Receptions (the other two legs of the WR stat trifecta) he is typically somewhere in the 4-10 range on a yearly basis. Last year Dez was #1 in TDs, #8 in yards, and #12 in receptions.

Assuming Ware ends his career somewhere less than Greene in sacks AND he doesn't win a Superbowl, I don't see how he would get in before Greene.

IMHO, Greene is due -- probably in the next year or two.

That is a 15 year career compared to a 10 year career.

Averages per year:
Ware 12.7
Green 10.6

Patrick peterson retired?

Jj watt can be

Hate to say it but big Ben will be in hof. He's good but he can thank the refs and his defenses for those 2 superbowl wins.

I think Witt will get in but I am not as convinced that he will be a 1st Ballot HOFer. If it were up to me, he would be but if you look at TE's, they are not 1st ballot HOF selections.

Dave Casper retired in 84, inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2002.
Iron Mike retired in 72, inducted in 88
John Mackey retired in 71, inducted in 92
Ozzie Newsom retired in 90, inducted in 99
Charlie Sanders retired in 77, inducted in 07
Shannon Sharp retired in 03, inducted in 11
Jackie Smith retired in 78, inducted in 94
Kellen Winslow retired in 87, inducted in 95

Tony Gonzalez could change that but even if he does, there is no guarantee that it will be the same for Jason. Gonzalez has better stats and will likely still hold this advantage over Jason once Witt decides to hang it up. Will be interesting to see how that plays out. I hope he is a 1st ballot guy but I will not be disappointed if he is not.

Tyron Smith hasn't really done anything yet. And to mention him over Witten?

So? The NFL rewards longevity.

Besides, that number is going to come down before Ware's career is over. Let's say he totals 20 sacks over the next three years. That would put his career average at 11.3. Green also played in a league where QBs weren't throwing the ball 50 times a game.
