I'm sure your musings have nothing to do with how bad Orton looked last preseason game, eh?

I also think Orton looked horrid and would almost rather go with Tanney than Orton. But I doubt Chicago wants out trash and would give us anything of value for him.

He did look poor in the last game but he looked very, very good against Oakland and Miami. He's really the only QB who put up points in the 1st two games. I am not averse to considering other options but I don't think we should rely on a Rookie QB who is not likely to get more game time experience after Pre-Season, unless he has to be thrown into the fire, due to an injury to Romo.

There are no backup OLmen on other teams worth trading for who are any better than Arkin, Bern and Costa. The only thing we can use is a starting RG. And he we don't the resources to trade for one.

The bears ran the football twice as good as Dallas. Please explain what you mean braveheart? At least they could run block. Our line could do neither last year.

They didn't run the ball twice as well as the Cowboys did.

Bears 470 1,970 4.2
Cowboys 355 1,265 3.6

So yes, the Bears accumulated more yards, and had a higher YPC, but they also ran it 115 times more than the Cowboys did. But you have to consider the fact, that they made three major changes on that OL. It was for a reason. They were decent run blockers, but very poor pass protectors (one of the reasons they ran so much). And the difference in YPC isn't that great. I don't see them as being any kind of an upgrade over what we have. Most likely, the Cowboys don't either - including Marinelli. Mind you, we've made a couple of pretty significant upgrades this year, too, with Fred and Leary.

make all the excuses you want. We finished 31st in the NFL in rushing last year.

You're joking, right? There are better backups in division 2 of college football teams than these 3. The better statement is that no one will trade their back up OL, and lose their depth. The only hope is that some serviceable OL will get cut soon, and this team is smart enough to go out and get a couple of them and say goodbye to at least 2 of these 3.

If your looking for a team to trade a player to, I'd say pick the Miami Dolphins or the Pats. Both teams are desperate for WR's and TE's....

I just can't see us trading Orton for any reason...we aren't going to get a stud OG for him (nor should we) and he is too valuable as the back up

it's a catch 22, I know...on one hand, you don't get rid of Orton because the OL could get Tony killed (meaning we will need Orton)...but, if we trade Orton to get an OL, does it keep Tony on his feet?

Well for one, Marinelli isn't an offensive line coach.

And there is no way the Bears would trade for Kyle Orton, and no way he would go there to be a backup where he has already played a chunk of his career.

Plus, the Bears oline sucks worse than ours, so why would we want their backups?

Not to be negative, but this is just all a bad idea lol
agreed. I rather trade a wr to the pats for a olineman , they have good starters and no wrs. could be a match made in heaven.
