Potential Salary Cap Increase

Won't matter if Jerry won't do what it takes to bring in the big names anymore.

Yeah, because bringing in the big names is obviously a smart move that automatically means success. See for further proof the Commanders for the last 15 years; the Eagles last year.

Bringing in the big names is the key to success! How can Jerry not see that!

My understanding is that they're trying to get the salary cap back to the "right" level, not to increase it.

When the math was done the salary turned out to be too low. So they're renegotiating to try and get it up to the 2011 level.

So he gets hell for overpaying for players, but also gets hell for NOT overpaying for players.

Gotta love double standards.

Big names don't win championships..talent does

Right, and most of the talent in free agency lies in name players.

I don't care if Jerry Jones overpays (at least to a reaonalbe degree) or underpays for plyers. That's beause, genrally, Steven Jones finds a way to work the cap year in and year out.

What bothers me most is that for far too long certain units of the team have gone unattended and/or grossly mishandled where the WRONG players are constantly brought in to fix them with no success. OL and Secondary come to mind.

Having said that - what I don't want this offseason is for Jones to overpay by getting into a bidding war for a non-premium positiion like OL (i.e. Nicks), because if you're going to do that, it's better used on a more premium position like CB (i.e. to go after Carr for instance).

That's certainly what Danny Snyder thinks....

With the beating Romo has taken the last two years, with the complete inability to rush for a yard on third and fourth down, how is OL a non-premium position?

Jeez. How many times this type of ignorance need to be disproved by history.

Would you like to be Commanders and sign big name players to monster contracts like:
FatBoy Haynesworth
Adam Archuleta
Brandon Lloyd
Antwaan Randle El
Dana Stubblefield
Bruce Smith
Jeff George

Those must have all been good signings for the Commanders because talent lies in the name players, right?

And I'm sure you think the Eagles signing of Nnamdi was a better deal than the 49ers signing of Carlos Rogers last year.

The biggest names in free agency are often not worth what they demand. And there is almost always less paid free agents who out perform the big names.

That's not a reason to refuse to sign one. But it certainly is stupid to say "you have to sign the big names because they have all the talent."
