What do you think about Cleary? I wonder if they try to sign him to the PS at some point or just keep him on speed dial in case of an injury.
He has been around the NFL since 2013. Not sure if eligible.

He does have upside though, I thought he played well in the preseason games. In some years when they had limited depth and carried 5 safties he would have made the 53 IMO.
Showers ran a 4.66 forty which is slower than Barry Church.

Maybe he should bulk up to play LB.

I'm surprised he cleared waivers honestly. I think the team didn't like his lack of position flex. He really didn't look very good at G during camp. I do think he's the safest option outside of Chaz Green if something would happen to Tyron for any length of time though. From that perspective the move is a little risky.

Bell looked better at LT than Cleary.

Cleary did look good at RT.

Great point, Green and Bell took a lot of reps at OG and could play there if (really) needed, if Cleary is limited to OT and roster spots are scarce, it explains the move.

Still, you would think a guy that played OK in a starting role would get claimed on waivers pretty quickly.
Starting? When?

I love Bell's versatility and experience for a reserve but I didn't see a whole lot I liked during the preseason from him. Honestly, Cleary didn't overwhelm me either, but he did manage to keep the Eagles from killing Romo in the finally last season so he earned some trust from me there. Just to be clear, I agreed with Bell over Cleary for the roster spot

A player could train for the 40, learn the proper techniques, but it usually won't make more than a tenth of a second difference. You can't teach speed.
A 4.56 would put him more in line with many NFL Safeties than a 4.66.

Starting? When?

Cleary started a game last year, I didn't mean he had been a starter for an extended period. Usually when teams have tape of a guy starting and doing OK someone will sign him as a backup, though that didn't happen in this case.

But how much training do QBs put in on 40's?

Good point, he would certainly have a different training program as a DB. If you Google his 40 time, the second article is from DC.com of him saying after the position switch "I can't eat like a QB anymore".

Emmett Cleary is Practice Squad eligible, but I don't think Dallas is looking to keep him around.

PS rules now allow teams to have up to four veteran players with no more that two accrued seasons of service.

Cleary has two.

It seems like it, Green and Bell are better as the Swing Tackle and they likely think guys like Edwards are a better fit as developmental projects.
