Gathers will stick. Any team who likes him knows he's gotta develop. They'd be happy to let him do that on our PS and then poach him down the line

Was afraid of this. Jenkins outplayed everyone on the DL when given an opportunity (especially without a lot of prep time with system) and this was a poor way to reward his effort. Especially when guys who have not been able to play, never mind perform to his level, are still on the roster.

Jenkins may never amount to anything, but rewarding performers is a much better policy than protecting draft/FA "assets" who have underperformed/unable to perform, no matter what the industry.
