Early exit or narrowly miss playoffs for sure.
So far, these are the teams in the playoffs:
Eagles, Seahawks, Falcons, Vikings, Us, Giants, and the 49ers.
I’m assuming these positions are a lock. Eagles have the 1 seed and division locked up, so we’re looking at anywhere from the 5-7th seed if we make the playoffs.
We would currently play the Falcons. NFC South looks weak but if Saints or Bucs rise up, we will certain lose against them. We have a weakness against those 2 teams.
There are situations where we’d matchup with the Seahawks/49ers (whoever wins that division), as well as the Vikings depending on seeding. The Vikings do not worry me. We are actually very similar teams. Both are good, but not great. Meddling QBs, saved by the running game, and mediocre coaching. It’s a coin toss for who’d win this game.
49ers worry me. We always lose against them. They are extremely well coached, and with the addition of CMC, our defense would be toast. Add in a worse offense then the one we had last year, we would fold like a cheap dollar tent from the dollar store.
Seahawks, much like the 49ers, worry me. Their pass game is extreme. I am not as worried about them as I would be for say, the 49ers, but they have a spark to them. They are underdogs, have tough attitudes, and Pete Carrol is still an amazing coach. He has turned Geno Smith into his new Russell Wilson.
Falcons…. I’d rather play them than the Saints or Bucs. They look good when they play good, but when they’re off, they are OFF. I’d give us a good chance to beat them but Dallas is also a low vibrational team. If they come out cold, they will remain cold all game and will likely lose.
Tl;dr: it would be a long shot for us to make even the divisional round. This team lacks the coaching, QB, ownership, personnel, and luck to make it anywhere beyond the divisional. The sky is indeed the limit, but for the cowboys, the mere 25ft tree is beyond the limit we can reach.
