As it stands right now, the team is less talented than it was last year, that is a fact. I'm not saying we are done in free agency and we won't draft any good players, I'm just going off of what we know right now.
OK, I can certainly understand the logic behind saying "less" talented. In your previous post, however, you stated a "lot less" talented, which we're not. We can debate all day long about what TO brought to this team, both positively and negatively, and be correct on all of it. But cutting TO alone doesn't weaken this team a lot, nor do any of the other losses we have incurred. Again, JMO.

TO has nothing to do with a succesful season. We will go 10-6 with a playoff berth.

Wade and Garrett however do, and do you honestly see them winning 10 games? Wade has never won a playoff game ever, the reason for that is not TO

I'm firm at 11-5 and a playoff win.

Frankly, I would have predicted the same record and upswing with TO as well.

I think people expecting a really bad season are going to be disappointed,, especially since its obvious some of them actually WANT us to be bad to support their extremely flawed views.

Unless we have a barrage of injuries, especially to guys like Romo or Ware, there is still ALOT of talent on this team. Other than two plays vs Baltimore and the debacle in Philly, nobody can deny the impact taking Stewart out of the equation on defense for Wade had. It was extremely positive.

Romo is a good QB. He was not "made" by TO. He is definitely a top 5 or so QB in this league. Subtracting the guy out of the offense who wanted the ball thrown to him at all costs, regardless of the impact (see first Washington game) will be a good thing. The ball will be spread around, and Romo wont be so pressed to have "tunnel vision" when it comes to seeing the field. His injury last yr was undoubtedly the cause of missing so many open guys, because his previous two seasons and the Romo pre-injury last yr was extremely accurate. There will be more emphasis on the run game, and that will be a good thing with the talent we have at RB. Having Felix Jones 100% for 16 games would be a major positive IMO.

Then there's the special teams. Bruce Read was arguably the worst special teams coach in football. he's replaced by a guy who's highly regarded and thought of as one of the better special teams coaches. that will have an impact.

No doubt we do have some issues. Losing Canty hurts some. We need the OL to play better than last yr, though Adams being healthy and having one guy at LG (Kosier, Holland or perhaps a high draft pick) should help. We need Spencer to step up this yr. We need the safeties to make more plays.

The schedule is probably going to help a little. The AFC West is bad. The NFC South is going to be down quite a bit IMO.

Barring injuries, I would be stunned if we werent 10-6 or 11-5. We have too many good players and the atmosphere should be improved greatly from dumping TO, Pac Trash and Turd Johnson.

If we go on to win playoff games or SB then the heck with TO.

Anyone who ever wishes that we dont succeed so they can pat themselves on their back is a loser.

Romo is not a Top 5 QB. He might break Top 10. We will know more after this season.

In no particular order

  • Peyton
  • Tom Brady
  • Eli
  • Ben R
  • Brees
  • Rivers
  • Warner
  • Delhomme
  • Hasselback
  • Cutler
Just about all of these QB's have won playoff games too.

im being generous 6-10, but i feel its going to be 3-13 or 4-12

Are you serious? Do you honestly believe that TO is single handedly worth 3-6 wins?

A successful football season never hinges solely on the absence of a wide receiver, even if that wide receiver is a very good or great one. Success is depended on the efforts of talented players on offense, defense and special teams, directed by a competent coaching staff, playing efficiently for the majority of a season. If the coaching staff can harness the talent of this team and keep it focused, there isn't any reason to doubt (or attempt to incite fear) that it's not capable of finishing 9-7 or greater in 2009. None.

Outside of those 4, the case for those players being better than Romo just isn't that strong. Despite the fact that Romo outperforms them, Eli and Big Ben have won. Not like they are carrying their teams but they have done well at steering the ship.

I wouldn't even put Rivers in that category.

Could you post the schedule?
Hard to reasonably predict a record without seeing the schedule.

Ben makes plays when necessary and makes smarter decisions. Advantage Ben.

Ben talked of Romo's lifestyle THEN beat the Cowboys THEN won ANOTHER SB.
