Scenario A......I think this is will happen
Scenario B......I don't see this coz if MM has other options, 3 years are not when I he gets 5 years with another team
Scenerio C......Can def see this happening coz we needs an entire new coaching staff. I don't see Jerry trusting a young inexperience coach with Dak and Parsons contracts. I think he will look for a coach with proven post season record.
Scenerio D......I don't see at all unless it's Kellen Moore.

My list of candidates .....situation is a bit odd coz I can't remember a time we needed a new head coach, offensive coordinator AND defensive coordinator at the same time. This is why I think he will hire someone with close ties and/or someone he has a ton of respect ( Nick Saban, Belichick)
Kellen Moore
Nick Saban....he and Jerry have a long history. Read nuggets in the past of Jerry flying to Alabama to personally consult with him certain issues.
Belichick .......nevermind the NC job. He has a history of backing out of one opportunity for another.
Vrabel.....as Bob mentioned he lost a power struggle to the Titan's GM coz he didn't think he was qualified. Shouldn't be an issue with Jerry.
???? ....... Jerry once said he always have a couple of future candidates on the radar. ( Jon Gruden ???? )

Scenario B - 85%.

1. Jerry does not stray far from his comfort zone - he knows what he has in the current situation.
2. I don't think any good, young guy wants to take a chance with Jerry. The guy has carved his rep in stone and everyone knows it.
3. The "what if" card will be played - by everyone involved. What if we hadn't lost Dachoka, what if we hadn't lost 5 starters to the Commanders, ect..
4. I can't imagine Scenario D as long as Jerry can stand and pee at the same time.

Scenario C - 10%.

Scenario D - 5%
1. WTH - Let's give JWitt a shot, lol.

B.
with belichick going to north carolina...i don't believe there is a better coach available...or thats willing to work with this f/o dynamic.
a first time hc like ben johnson or slowik...or joe brady would be eaten alive here with the owner being the gm.
as long as jerry is the gm...about the best we can hope for is a double digit win total...win the east...and an occassional wild-card win.
thats all jerry knows how to build.
the only way for a hc to win here is to coach "around" jerry...and thus far mccarthy has been the best at that since parcells.
mccarthy is a good football coach.
its too bad his gm isn't good at what he does.
i think belichick would have been a better option with our current set up.
but that ship sailed.
maybe pete carrol.
maybe nick saban.
but in the end...i feel the issue here is not a coaching problem.
its a GMing problem.

At the conclusion of this dismal 2024 Cowboys season, a scenario about the future of Mike McCarthy will unfold regardless of of the outcome in Sunday’s meaningless final game against Washington.

Below are four possible scenarios I see happening although there certainly could be more I don’t see. Which one do you predict will actually happen and also tell us why you believe that will happen?
  • SCENARIO A: Mike McCarthy‘s contract expires and the Cowboys let him ride off into the sunset with no press conference or other public comment from the Jones people or from Big Mac. McCarthy ends up being hired elsewhere.
  • SCENARIO B: A few days after the season ends, Jerry holds a press conference to announce Mike McCarthy has been extended with a new 3 year contract and a raise bringing his pay from 16th highest paid to top 10. (Jerry is famously cheap paying his HCs)
  • SCENARIO C: (An addition to scenario A) Big Mac leaves, is not renewed. A week before the SB, Jerry announces the hiring of another experienced head coach, perhaps even a ”retread”. Could be Mike Zimmer, Pete Carrol, or a younger Brian Flores or someone similar. And…perhaps Jason Witten is brought on staff to be designated HC in waiting to be mentored and prepared much like Jason Garrett was. Smh. (Didn’t include Mike Vrabel because no way JJ hires a guy who clashes with his bosses like he did in Tenn)
  • SCENARIO D: Big Mac leaves, and the week before the SB, Jerry announces the Cowboys are hiring a young guy who has never been a head coach before. Someone like Lions DC Aaron Glenn (who once played for Dallas), ravens OC Todd Monken, or some other young gun. (I didn’t include lions OC Ben Johnson because no way he comes to Dallas. He will have better options)
Personally, I would prefer Scenario D because I believe a younger, more cutting edge rising talent would be way better than some retread. The scenario I believe will happen is Scenario B.

So which scenario do you want, which one will actually happen and why?
Agreed, Bob, I think B is what ends up happening.

My preference is D, but B is most likely. Except he’ll have a handshake agreement with Mike and wait until the week of the Super Bowl to announce it. Only way he can garner attention during Super Bowl week since his abilities, or lack thereof, prevent building a team that can play in the game.

The one thing i find interesting is IF MM gets offers from anywhere else, I'd have to assume it would be for more money/less nonsense. Even if its some place like Jacksonville, its probably worth it..

It won’t take much to get paid more. Mac is the 16th highest paid coach in NFL, 3rd highest in NFC East.

Whatever scenario is the path of least resistance for Jerry, and offers a good comfort level. So, B it is.
We agree that Jerry is famously cheap. But, most likely he'd throw in a family package to Disney World to sweeten the deal with MM.

I think scenario C happens, but add KM to the mix because of JJs comfort level with him.
I'd much prefer scenario D, but that doesn't have much of a chance of happening.

I just hope all these scenarios can be discussed with a little class and a grain of salt. It's fun talking football and sharing ideas....at least, it can be. We'll probably have a lot of name calling that will trigger some....yes, me.

B, Jerry likes his guys.

I wanted Belichick, but I’ll take D now. Maybe Jerry can persuade the Detroit OC step into his trap.

Mike will get an extension and a raise.

Unrelated, this team will continue to head downward because of the players he is given to work with.

I can see Aaron Glenn being the new HC. Not sure I have any evidence of such...it's just a feel I have about it. Either him or a surprise like our current d line coach Jeff Zgonnia. Coach Z might even get the title of defense coordinator. I think Al Harris is going to go where MM goes or to the commanders to be the DC next year.
