Predict Which Rookie Will Have The Biggest Impact This Year

So you don't expect defenses to roll coverage towards Shultz based Dak's tendency to target Shultz and not having the double receiving threat Dallas had with Coop and Lamb?

There were games already where they were doing that on 3rd down as they knew Shultz was his 3rd down guy. So yah, they will. He will also probably get a lot more redzone opportunities and he will be targeted more with Cooper gone.

Im just not seeing this big deal about moving on from Cooper than many of you seem to feel. Lamb is primed ready to take over and fills right in. Its not like he is a rookie. Already lead the team in 3 of the 4 categories with Shultz being #2 in 3 out of the 4.

Having Cooper, Lamb , and Gallup was a complete luxury we didnt need.

Ok. You're entitled to your opinion or speculation Roy. There is no Cooper. There will be rolled coverage to CeeDee making Prescott go someplace else with the ball. No Gallup early, either means James Washington or someone else gets all the targets at WR. Schultz will get his targets too. But, I'm going with the person getting one on one coverage and winning his match-up will be the rookie WR.

Btw, the numbers I project are comparable to Devonte Smith's work as a rookie in Philly. Not ridiculous numbers at all considering how Prescott likes to distribute the ball.

Cowboys will move Ceedee all over the field, put him in motion, slot, whatever they have to do.

Smith was the #1 receiver on that football team. Tolbert will be the 4th option at best without Gallup and the 5th or 6th when he comes back.

Lamb, Shultz, Gallup, Zeke/Pollard, Washington, Tolbert

If Tolbert has a great year, maybe he jumps over Washington for 3rd WR position, however I doubt we see that at the beginning of the year.

But I would love a 900 yard rookie season from Tolbert. But unfortunately that would probably mean that Lamb goes down and Gallup doesnt come back until late in the year.

I agree with Dallas moving on from Cooper for a variety of reasons. But there are also reasons why we weren't able to take advantage of our three-headed monster of Coop, Lamb and Shultz. I think more focus was given to defending Lamb and Coop than Shultz.

I also feel that Dak didn't use them as well as he could have, but that's another argument I don't want to get into.

Again, I'm not making any judgments about Shultz's effectiveness in the upcoming season until after the season. I'm just articulating my layman's analysis and wondering if Shultz benefited from our other weapons, regardless of whether we used them effectively.

We shall see.

Once the line went and the run game went everyone played a two deep zone on us. All those things hurt the passing game as well as all the penalties killing drives and first downs.

Smith should get the most snaps by far, so I'll go with him.

Which guy will have the greatest impact THIS YEAR?

Rookies take a while to learn the new offense/defense and to adjust to the NFL, so making a bit impact right away is unusual. Not everyone is MIcah.

I'll go with the kicker. Zuerline cost us, what, 3 games alone last year. If Garibay can kick them as long and as accurate as he did at Texas Tech ( and it wasn't just the wind in Lubbock adding another 10 yards to his kicks) then he can be the biggest difference maker.

Tolbert, Smith

Tolbert gonna get alot of opportunities with Gallup out, he can line up anywhere..

....for OUR sake, better be Smith. The offense goes as OL goes.

Choices are:

Tyler Smith
Sam Williams
Jalen Tolbert
Jake Ferguson
John
Ridgeway
Jonathan Garibay

For the 1st year:
Smith
Williams
Ferguson
Tolbert
Garibay
Ridgeway

2nd year
Smith
Williams could tie for 1st
Ferguson, Tolbert and Ridgeway could blur the lines for a tie

The more I see and hear about these 6 draftees the more I like them. I do think Smith and Williams will make a notable difference this year. Smith and Ferguson may prove to be a big help to our running game this year. With a little time to develop, Ridgeway could really become a warrior at DT.
If Garibay is as good as they think he his, it'll be nice to see more points on the board and fewer FG misses.

Um, I gave him some! That ought to count for something.

I'm encouraged appreciably by his college stats.

He should be a step up from Zuerlein.

(Fingers crossed. We'll see.)

Agreed. Zman has become way too unreliable. Garibay's college stats sound really promising. I'm on the kid's side, I'm sure he'll get a chance this year to show what he can do.

Impact that we can see on the stat sheet? Tolbert.

CeeDee will be drawing the focus so he’ll have plenty of opportunities
