Predictability with Dunbar

Has he had ran the ball 1 time yet?

Have we ran the ball with him in the game?

Jason Garrett teams have just been awful at using multiple backs in a game.

He likes to give guys series and it just creates so many tendencies when certain guys are in the lineup.

We have to make things more difficult for our opponent then what we do. This arrogant playcalling could be our downfall this year.

If you put both him and CM in the back field, you can run with either and both can catch out of the backfield or you can flex Dunbar out

I don't have a problem with the player.

I've been disgusted with him for the last couple years and clearly it's the coaches I should have been upset with because he is a weapon.

They just let Demarco do as he pleased last year instead of trying to create matchups.

After watching some of these Gifs it's clear to me that they let Witten do the same thing as well because Escobar or a WR would be better at stretching the seam against a single high safety.

That's what you get when you have a HC who gets chummy with his players.

If anything I wouldn't mind seeing Dunbar running the ball more now that I've seen him.

Yes he's small, but big deal. He rushed for 4,200 yards at N Texas and had 41 TD's!

Dunbar is a good receiver, not so good as a pure runner. There's definitely predictability with him on the field.

We were a predictable offense last year.

We ran the ball more on first down than anybody in the league and it wasn't even close.

We then threw the ball almost more than anybody.

Last year it was simple. Tony under center and a hand-off to Murray on first down. If we got to second down, it was shotgun formation and usually an empty backfield. The defense knew exactly what we were doing.

Not much you can do about it. He's a receiving threat. Put him in with 21 personnel and see what defensive personnel comes out. If it's more DB's, run the ball. If we can get a linebacker on Dunbar, look to throw it his way.

Lance Dunbar isn't the problem.

Regardless of who they have in there, I would to see them pass more on 1st down. Have a run look and pass from it. And spread them out and run a draw with our quick backs.

I'm just happy they are using the running backs ad passing threats, that's huge and frankly about damn time. Dunbar is a shifty little dude and he's been awesome this year.

They should run it with him from time to time to switch things up. But overall I'm happy.

He's a Rent-A-Center Sproles.
How often does he get a handoff behind center and yet the entire league fears him.

I agree with about you with Dunbar.

When he comes in..

It's not to run the rock.

He reminds me of Preston Pearson..

a great change of pace back who primarily was used on passing down to get 1st downs.

Dunbar is very similar.

So having a committee does tip off certain tendencies to the defense.

I know some months ago I gave you a hard time and we looked at each other square in the eye.
I ended up having to admit that I was being unfair to you and since then:

I admit I that was missing out on the depth of your purpose when you post.
The opinion you put forth...
And yet you give space for anyone to rebutt, which you respectfully reply to.

You became one of my favorite posters very quickly since then and I wanted to take a moment to spend a few words showing my appreciation and in a roundabout way-
An apology for me being aggressive on your format those silly days past that are in the past.

This is me respectfully bowing to you.

I get the feeling you are not a Garrett fan.

Like I've said before he should just check into the game as a ER because that's the only way we use him.

is it Jason Garrett or Linehan? I thought linehan was now the savior of offense...

oh yeah,I forgot. if its good, its linehan, but anything bad is garrett...got it ;-)

All Linehan did was bring balance to Garretts scheme.

Garrett had no grasp of situational football and couldn't figure out how to run it.

Linehan has done those 2 things but now we have so many tendencies teams have picked up on that we are basically telling them what we are going to do every down.

1st down offense, imo, is killing us.

I would like to see a 2 RB set out there including Dunbar. Put Dunbar in the slot, or keep him in the backfield to potentially make the defense guess if it's a quick pass to Dunbar or a run play to him or the other RB.

Madden-ish, but seems like it could work.

They did that a few times in the Atlanta game with Dunbar and Randle on the field together.

are you talking about the pass happy linehan? brining balance? the same linehan who was told we want to run the ball?

and the tendencies are linehan's doing or garretts?

so some complain we don't run enough. when we run, its we run too much. and now its we have tendencies. and its all garrett's fault. last I checked we were down 6 starters, 3 on offense and 3 on defense. lets not forget we were down in the most important position on offense and our second best player on defense. everyone here expected us to get blown away against Atlanta and those same folks are complaining about second half of the game.....and tendencies...amazing how the wind blows.

How about some trick plays. Half-back option, Flea-flicker, statue of liberty ?
