The Answer has had time to ponder the schedule and has come to the following conclusions IF we are truly going to be a superbowl calibur team this is what needs to happen:

1.) Go no worse than 7-1 at home, preferably 8-0
2.) Go no worse than 4-2 in the division, preferably 5-1
3.) Go no worse than 4-4 on the road, preferably 5-3 or better

So given these premises, and assuming we stay relatively healthy throughout the season this is what The Answer sees happening without predicting the scores:

1)@JAX: W - we usually start the season strong, Bledsoe is also notorious for having huge games to start the season.
2)WAS: W - This is a 'must win' in every sense in the word, whether we are 1-0 or 0-1 we have to send a message to our most hated rival and the rest of the division early.
3)Bye: I hate having the bye week after only 2 weeks, would have helped to have it later but nothing we can do about it.
4)@TEN: W - Could be a dangerous game if McNair is playing, but either way this is a game we should win easily if we are legit.
5)@PHI: W - I'm on the fence with this one, but I will call it a win simply because TO has a lot more to prove than the Eagles in this one.
6)HOU: W - Texans have to improve sooner or later, but this is another no brainer at home for a contender.
7)NYG: W - Since I see the Giants taking a step backward this game should be ours for the taking.
8)@CAR: L - This is where we get our first loss, even though Carolina seems to play worse at home than they do on the road.
9)@WAS: L - Skins will get there revenge in this one, but it won't be a blowout like last year. At 6-2 we are still in great shape entering the stretch run.
10)@ARI: W - This will be a dangerous game because I feel the Cards will be a playoff team in 2006, but we still are better and take this one to avoid a 3 game losing streak on the road.
11)INDY: W - A lot of people think we lose this game, but I don't see it happening simply because I see the colts having a down year, plus Bledsoe owns Manning and I believe has only lost 2 games to him his entire career dating back to his days with the pats and bills when they were in the same division.
12)TB: W - Bucs are overrated and even if they improve marginally they don't scare me at home on turkey day.
13)@NYG: W - I think we get this one simply because we are a better team this year, will be a close one though and might come down to a vanderjagt kick in the wind.
14)NO: L - I will say this is the only home game we lose, and our 3rd and final loss of the season. Payton knows our offense and if Brees is healthy this is going to be a very dangerous team.
15)@ATL: W - The defense will eat up vick and Bledsoe will have a huge night in the dome on a saturday night showdown.
16)PHI: W - Philly will either still be in contention at this point, or long out of it, either way we complete the sweep for the 2nd straight year.
17)DET:W - If we have division and bye wrapped up than this game will be meaningless, time for Henson and/or Romo to show what they got.

13-3, but keep in mind this is the best case scenario assuming we have made the right decisions in the offseason and stay healthy.

couldn't that be the case for any team?

No because not every team has had the offseason we had.

We were a 9-7 team last year that very easily could have been 11-5, 12-4, or even 13-3 had we stayed healthy up front and had a reliable kicker.

We added the best free agent available (TO) and several other guys who are going to make a big difference: Vanderjagt, Watkins/Coleman, Adoyle, Carpenter, Fasano and Fabini.

The Answer does have legit concerns, particulary up front on the oline, the running back situation, and depth at DT. But either way we are going to be well coached and don't forget that Bledsoe is entering his 2nd season with this offense and has much better personell around him. In fact I was watching ESPN earlier and they were praising Drew and saying he will have a huge season in 2006!

I'm just saying, if it's the best case scenario, alot of teams have that same chance, and they are on our schedule, I would look at what's realistic

13-3 is very realistic, but as The Answer previously stated it's based on the premise that we don't lose any key players (Bledsoe, TO, Roy, Ware, Spears, etc) for any stretch longer than a game or two. And we also need to take care of business at home.

The Answer is going to discount the rest of the division, but on paper we are the team to beat as of today. If anything a healthy and reinvigorated Eagles team worries me much more than the Giants or Commanders who had 'questionable' offseasons and drafts at best.

I will concede a split but a sweep ?

Did you think the Commanders would sweep the Commanders last season ? I didnt expect it. I was hopeful for a split.
I did say we "MIGHT" sweep the Skins; I think we have a better shance of sweeping the 'Skins than we do the Giants. We have done it enough times that I have to believe it is always a possibility. ;)

I know you stated might.

But what makes the Giants that much tougher ? Really ?

for some reason we always seem to lose to the saints. and every year we seem to lose a game we should of won. thats the saints game.

If we are an elite team (which I believe we are), we dont lose THAT game, weather it be the Saints or any game for that metter. Not that I mean 16-0, but we dont lose any gimme's this year. This team is too good. Parcells proves he is what he is this year.

I don't know ... 12-4 may be a stretch. We haven't gone 12-4 in 10 years.

Predictions in May are for fun only. I made an 8-8 prediction last year ... and you know what? When they finished 9-7, I was PO'd.

I brought into the hype.

Here's what I think, if nothing else, we should equal our 2005 record ... setting a base of 9-7.

I think Vanderjagt is good for at least 1 game ... giving us 10-6.

I think we're still gone lose some close ones (Seattle, Commanders) and win some close ones (Philly).

10-6 would be a significant improvement over last year.

But looking around other forums, the Iggles, Cowboys, Commanders, and Giants are ALL prediction 12-4 seasons. Something's gotta give.

I think the Boys go 10-6 and there will be tiebreakers involved in the division winner, so they need to win in the division.

I also say the Boys lose to the Saints. They always play us hard and if we beat T.B. and the Colts then I see a let down game for us. I think we go 12-4 or 11-5. I have my fingers crossed for no key injuries this year and will see you in Miami.
