I love the guy.
But with the infusion of youth on our D-Line to great success this past season, his 'tweener status and his upcoming salary amounts, I think his days as a Cowboy are over.
Ferguson just signed and Thomas Johnson showed BP some promise at NT.
And do we still have rights to Willie Blade?

In any case, what do you think we could resonably expect to get for him in the event he is traded? (draft pick-wise)

I would hate to add a very good player to an already very good skins defense. As for Ramsey he has not been able to take advantage of his chances not sure I want another QB with major question marks.

Can't Glover play end and also DT when we run the 4-3? I just can't see us getting rid of both Ellis and Glover the same season.

I hope to get a 3, would be surprised to get a 2, and would be okay with a 4.

Ellis may not go anywhere.
He's not due a whole lot of money.

I think it is more likely that if Dallas was going to trade Glover it will come in the form of a draft pick and not that of an young player. Having said that I'm not sure Dallas will part ways with both Glover and Ellis

How about La Roi Glover to San Francisco for RFA WR Brandon Lloyd?

Oooh, I like that.

GLOVER IS IN THE DRIVING SEAT ON WHERE HE PLAYS NEXT SEASON.

He is only staying here if he takes a major pay cut. If he wants to get out and play in a 4-3 and get that last "Coakley" contract he'll force a cut.

Unless he restructures we have little trade options.

I personally would try and restructure and get him to buy his rotational role.;)

I am hoping that with either one, I am sure one of them is going either LaGlover or Ellis, maybe its Glover with his 7.3 contract expense, which would free us some more money for another free agent or two.
At that, I think that we can get a # 2 for Glover, as well as a number # 2 for Ellis, or use one of them to trade up in draft for an impact player.

I don't see Glover wanting to play a backup role IMO. I say we need to make a trade for him, there are teams that think as we think. They think they just a few pieces away, and Glover and or Ellis could be the one.

Meanwhile, we need picks. BP strong point is in the draft (taking defenders especially)

I think Ellis wants out, is not a fit and will be traded. We might get a 3rd or a like player in return.

I can really see Glover accepting a Vet leadership role and realize at his age a Lombardi is more important than a few $ at his age. He seems like a real loyal guy. If JJ/BP present it to him with some love he'll stay.

I'd be willing to pay him the same $2M we paid Als last year - no blink.

I'd keep Glover if he didn't cost so much against the cap & if we hadn't gone to 3-4 defense. He (and Ellis) combined for 11 sacks & their DL pressure helped our pass defense; unfortunately that QB disappeared last part of season & reason is unclear.

I'd love to get a 3rd or even 4th round pick for him (or even get a player who upgrades at needed position). Only happens if another team wanted make sure they got him & wanted avoid bidding war for his services (at same time prevent him going to division opponent) offered us a deal & Glover agreed restructure his contract. The Cowboys haven't been able to bring this kind of deal off but we can try.

Anyway the $6M in cap savings will help towards signing 3-4 FAs to upgrade positions at FS, PK, RT & hopefully C (if quality one available). Frankly we also need add a 2nd OT (draft or FA) to provide quality depth at OT cause don't want to be forced rely on Pettiti/Colombo/Tucker should either OT be lost for season. Also time to think about replacing Adams soon (turns 31) cause he costing us $7M against the cap this year.

BTW: Am concerned if we let Ellis go; who replaces the 8 sacks & unknown number of QB pressures he generated for us?

Glover would at least want a contract similar to Ferguson's. It's not going to happen. If he we can trade him straight up for a 4th, that would be a fair trade.

I don't see us getting anything for Glover. I think we have to cut him to get the real cap savings, it would be nice if someone could clear that up for me.

Ellis I think we can get a 3rd or replace the 4th we lost.
