Agree with most of what you have here. Except I don't see a FA LB replacing Carpenter. At least not a significant starting quality FA LB.

I think Ware's deal averages 10 mil. Something like 7yrs/70 mil/24 mil Bonus.

I believe we will have another very good draft focusing on OL and S.

I believe we will have a stronger focus on the running attack.

I believe Felix will lead our RB's in touches and catch 50 plus balls.

We will fly under the radar as much as any Cowboy team can. Very few positive preseason views. Unfortunately that wont last past week 4.

I'll go on record first predictiong we have a strong year, win the NFC East and one of the top 2 seeds.
I'll stop right there.

Why cut MCQ he did better than proctor when they put him on the field Proctor should be cut 1st and foremost

I was daydreaming about a scenario for the lockerroom.

Offense vs. Defense in a friendly wager, with each member of the losing side paying a certain amount of money to the winning side. Whichever side had the most points at the end of the season wins the money.

The points would be awarded similar to fantasy football....

OFFENSE:
TD (Offense, KR, PR) +6
FG +3
Every 100 yds offense +1
First Down +1

Fumble -1
Fumble lost -2
Int -2
Safety -2
TD allowed -6
Sack allowed -1
Tackle for loss -1
3 and out -1
penalty -1

DEFENSE:
Shutout +10
No TDs allowed +6
TD scored +6
INT +2
Fumble +1
Fumble recovery +2
Sack +1
Tackle for loss +1
Safety +2
Blocked kick +2
3 and out +1

TD (0ffense, KR, PR) allowed -6
FG allowed -3
penalty -1
3rd down conversion -1
4th down conversion -2
1st down -1

I think this would make the team more competitive....I think the defense would come out Doomsday style and the offense would come out trying to be as productive as the Triplets era.....especially if the amount wagered was something like $10,000

  • Phillips stays
  • Garrett stays
  • In fact, the whole bloody coaching staff stays
  • Wade Wilson continues to collect a check for doing absolutely nothing
  • After starting 2-0 the team loses five straight. Wade Phillips is fired along with Brian Stewart.
  • Garrett takes over as head coach and Dave Campo is promoted to defensive coordinator and the team finishes out the season at 6-10
  • Jerry Jones begins to speak in glowing terms of Jason Garrett and hires him permanently at the conclusion of the season preaching "continuity"

I think we'll make a few needed moves, somethings will go more our way this year, than this last year, and we'll wind up 11-5 next year and make it to the NFC Championship game.

Then, despite going 3-1 down the stretch in December, and winning a playoff game, or two (depending on our seeding of course) to get us to the NFC Title game the buzz from Cowboys fans will still be "Romo sucks, he can't win the big game, he doesn't win in December and January" and all that jazz leading up to the NFC Title game, and especially after if we don't happen to win it.

They'll totally forget, as usual, the big games in December and what not that he won just to put them into that position and they'll continue, for another year, their cycle of claiming the usual.

Oh and despite catching 80 balls, for 1297 yards, and 14 TDs, TO haters will continue to claim he's lost a step, he doesn't get open, and he doesn't make plays.

Those will be the two main storylines going into next offseason.

The first part of your post. We can only hope.

The Romo and TO part is funny

I think Peyton Manning has had 9 one and done playoff runs. Amazing.
Whats more amazing is that he was about to lose to Pats in AFC title game before LUCK struck and they came from behind to go on to beat Bears in SB.

While I think Romo needs some work. Some adjustments... he can lead us deep into playoffs. He is OFF right now.. in more ways than one. Gotta get back on track.

The TO part is funny.
  • He gets double covered = he lost a step.
  • He gets triple covered = he lost a step.
  • He gets a ball thrown in his vicinity = its an automatic drop(I will concede he drops too many.. but he is credited with EXTRA drops)
  • He can catch his own teammate from behind to that he scores = he lost a step
  • He can catch a defender from behind = he lost a step

The moral of this post - TO has lost a step :laugh2:

You mean running stride for stride with Felix Jones means you are fast???

Dang, who woulda thunk it.

The new Cowboys fan strategy is to berate our own players like we are Iggle fans. We are now a bunch of sad-sacked whiners who can't lose without attacking the team.

Actually, this has been going on since the days of Don Meredith and Eddie Lebaron.

At some point, the fans are going to reach a breaking point because of the losing and their belief, whether it is perception or reality that the players don't care and the owner constantly putting his ego above winning.

The people on this board have a right to vent and make any statement as long as it is in the guidelines of the forum.

As far as 2009, as long as you have a huge void in Leadership in the Front Office, the Coaching Staff and the Lockerroom, I doubt we see anything different next season.

Honestly, the only thing that changes from year to year is the excuses made by some as to why we either didn't make the Playoffs or didn't win a Playoff Game.

Should be interesting to see what excuses the next failed season will bring. Wouldn't suprise me one bit if somebody makes the case that it was because we let Bruce Read go .

Draft is above average with a focus on OL and DB. A QB is taken in the 5th round for developmental purposes.

TO says all the right things and plays the consumate team player through camp. But the cancer is terminal and will fully spread in 2009. I am not saying he is not productive. I am saying he is a pure cancer in the lockerroom and thrives on the chaos he deliberately manufactures.

Romo will still have problems due to having throw "x" passes to # 81 each game. Defenses know this and will prepare accordingly. Romo does not have the nads necessary to challenge this. Romo will play along since he got his big payday. Winning titles is secondary to him; being off in January gives him another month of vacation time.

Penalty machine Flozell, aging DE Ellis, SS Roy Williams will be released.

Canty is resigned.

P McBriar stays and does well in 2009.

Ware signs a mega deal along the number lines of 9 years/80mm with a 27mm bonus.

The running rebounds with a vengence in 2009. Barber and Felix are both healthy and combine for 1,800 rushing yards, 500 receiving yards, and 16 TDs. They fumble a combined 2 times all season.

Witten leads the team in receptions again which will result in the cancer beign exposed and diagnosed before the Thanksgiving game against San Diego.

Phillips is retained since Jerruh is stubborn. As was alluded to earlier, Camp Easy Bake leads to yet another December swoon.

Garrett goes to another team to escape the Jerruh circus.

Dallas starts off 6-3 including a big win over Carolina on SNF but stumbles to a 3-4 finish, including 2-2 in the critical December games (losing at home to Eagles and on the road in MNF to Tampa Bay). 9-7 is good for third place behind the Giants and Eagles.

Old TO
  • A beast when he gets the ball
  • Runs hard to get to the endzone and usually did
  • Wants the ball
  • Couldnt be covered one on one

Current TO
  • STILL A beast when he gets the ball
  • STILL Runs hard to get to the endzone and usually does
  • STILL Wants the ball
  • STILL Cant be covered one on one
Only the calendar year has changed for TO............. nothing more.

TO blasters commence :laugh2:

Ah come on! The fans/posters here have legit problems with this team...many of the posters here PAY huge bucks to watch them die down the stretch year after year.

I took the Cowboys koolaid out of my fridge after this last meltdown in Philly.

I think most all fans expected more from them this year than we got.

Cowboys draft heavy on defense and provide depth to the DL, ILB and SS on day 1 and then stockpile players for mostly special teams on day 2.

Cowboys start preseason looking at rookies and UDFA's to contribute and make surprising final day cuts.

Cowboys start on a roll and never lose steam to everyone's surprise, including all fans and media. Cowboys ahead by halftime of every game and simply destroy teams all year with the running game of Barber, Jones and Choice as each get 1,000 yards rushing. Romo passes for over 4,000 yards and 40+ TD's as the 2009 team breaks every Cowboy record on offense. The entire OL goes to Pro Bowl as a result and the team gets #1 seed again in the NFC going 16-0 in the regular season.

Cowboy coaches and players are reminded of past failures by the media of #1 seeds and the undefeated Pats and so score 56 points against Gnats in the divisional game in a complete rout. In the NFCCG Cowboys continue to dominate leaving nothing to chance and blowout the up and coming Falcons scoring 45 points. Cowboys head to the SB for the 9th time in their history to face the Chargers, led by a resurging LT on offense and Merriman on defense.

Cowboys put on a show....56-10.
