Option #1 Maxx Crosby....29 years old in August. Per latest reports, he will cost a min two 1st round picks and maybe mid-rounders or a player.
*2025 ....10 sacks, 15 games
*2024 .....8 sacks, 8 games
*2023....15 sacks, 17 games
*2022....15 sacks, 17 games
4 years left on his contract ($30M) but only 2026 and 2027 have guaranteed money; 2028 and 2029 do not. In other words, he will require an extension or restructuring of new money after the 2027 season.

Option #2...Trey Hendrickson.....31 years ( Dec 5). 2026 free agent and according to a couple of reports, the Bengals are unlikely to try a tag and trade. He's a 4-time Pro Bowler and All-Pro

*2025.....4 sacks, 7 games
*2024.....18 sacks, 17 games, led the league, 2nd runner up for DPOY
*2025.....18 sacks, 17 games
*2022.....8 sacks. 15 games

So, no draft capital required, but he will need a new deal. His current value is tricky coz he missed 10 games this season after playing two full seasons in 2023 and 2024. He had surgery last month but should be ready by the start of free agency. Spotrac lists his current value at $25.5M. Some have suggested this is way off and he will command north of $35M. He's expected to have a strong market. I'm guessing guaranteed money will be the key to getting him signed.

Option #3
Use one or both 1st round draft picks in the 2026 draft and draft a top Edge .........Bain or Reese. In other words, would you use both 1st round picks to trade up for Bain or Reese?

NOT an option but for what it's worth.......read a few nuggets suggesting the Steelers move on/trade TJ Watt. Highly unlikely but there is talk from fans and media. Here's his contract...

Joey Bosa intruiges me a bit. Probably expensive when you consider his injury history.

Odafe Oweh and Boye Mafe are guys I would look at as well as mid tier vets.

We need multiple edges, it's pretty much just EZE on the roster next year.

Partially it depends on the DC I assume we bring in and what he's looking for.

Most likely to me is bringing back Clowney, signing a mid or maybe low mid FA edge and drafting a guy high.

Do not trade any of those picks for a "quick fix" EDGE. If the team is halfway competent (we can debate the if) they should be able to draft 2 solid starters on D and have them both under control on cheap contracts for 5 years. The defense needs solid starters more than 1 guy. If the team is not halfway competent then they should at least get lucky with 1 solid starter on D out of the 2 picks which is still better than tying up that many resources in one guy.

No on trading two first round picks for Maxx Crosby.

Yes on sign Trey Henderickson.
- 2 years at 30M per
- They can make it a 4 or 5 year deal but would end up costing 60M total if cut after the 2nd year.

Draft pass rushers. Consider using both 1st rounders on pass rushers.

Sign LBs in free agency.
- The best free agent LB will cost less than 14M per.

Tag and trade Pickens for Crosby.

Drafting and hoping a rookie in the middle of round 1 solves our pass rush problems is not going to work.

You're assuming another team is willing to trade a first for Pickens. The Cowboys got him for a 3rd and that was the best offer Pittsburgh got.

We saw what Pickens can do with stability at QB but is another team giving up a 1st for a guy that still has perceived attitude issues?

depends on your goal
if it is to compete in the next couple of years then we need to get a vet rusher
IF that is the goal to take advantage of Daks best years
IF it is to build for the future then go by the draft

my problem with Hendrickson is that we do not know when his decline will start.

Crosby needs to demand a trade. The team he gets traded to will need to resign him or there is no point in trading for him. Crosby has a lot of control on where he goes.

Same here but Bain is likely a top 5 pick at this point. He's not falling to either of Dallas' spots. And is he worth trading both 1sts to move up for?
I agree but he is not worth trading both 1sts to move up imo

As much as I would LOVE to see Crosby in a Dallas uniform, the amount of talent we need on this defense makes it tough to part with both of your 1st round picks. We have a lot of holes to fill.

A lot of this comes down to what Dallas does in free agency.....if anything noteworthy.

Crosby currently has an attitude in Oakland.
