Prefered Edge options?

You draft a rookie edge in hopes he fixes your pass rush problems 3 years down the road. My choice would be singing Hendrickson and bringing back Clowney and Houston. Still using one of the first to draft a Edge rusher as well or at least a LB who can be an occasional be a stand up rusher like Sonny Styles.

Option #1 Maxx Crosby....29 years old in August. Per latest reports, he will cost a min two 1st round picks and maybe mid-rounders or a player.
*2025 ....10 sacks, 15 games
*2024 .....8 sacks, 8 games
*2023....15 sacks, 17 games
*2022....15 sacks, 17 games
4 years left on his contract ($30M) but only 2026 and 2027 have guaranteed money; 2028 and 2029 do not. In other words, he will require an extension or restructuring of new money after the 2027 season.

Option #2...Trey Hendrickson.....31 years ( Dec 5). 2026 free agent and according to a couple of reports, the Bengals are unlikely to try a tag and trade. He's a 4-time Pro Bowler and All-Pro

*2025.....4 sacks, 7 games
*2024.....18 sacks, 17 games, led the league, 2nd runner up for DPOY
*2025.....18 sacks, 17 games
*2022.....8 sacks. 15 games

So, no draft capital required, but he will need a new deal. His current value is tricky coz he missed 10 games this season after playing two full seasons in 2023 and 2024. He had surgery last month but should be ready by the start of free agency. Spotrac lists his current value at $25.5M. Some have suggested this is way off and he will command north of $35M. He's expected to have a strong market. I'm guessing guaranteed money will be the key to getting him signed.

Option #3
Use one or both 1st round draft picks in the 2026 draft and draft a top Edge .........Bain or Reese. In other words, would you use both 1st round picks to trade up for Bain or Reese?

NOT an option but for what it's worth.......read a few nuggets suggesting the Steelers move on/trade TJ Watt. Highly unlikely but there is talk from fans and media. Here's his contract...

Absolutely the Cowboys have to go With option number two whether it be Hendrickson or somebody else in free agency along with the draft you cannot give up that kind of capital That that's just my opinion i'm not gonna say an argue about it it's been my opinion just like I think they should seriously consider trading George Pickens to have more draft picks and more money to spread around the team..

Doesn't seem to be the favorable opinion but I'm sticking with it I think the Cowboys as a team we'll be better off doing that and keep developing eazy E keep guys like Clowny and a new draft pick at defensive end and then a guy like Hendrickson it doesn't even have to be Hendrickson but he would be my first choice.

If you give up that kind of draft capital like too much you might as well not got rid of Parsons When you move on from a player like that you can't then equally use the same equity to get another guy like him on the team that makes no sense you need to have confidence in your drafting and that you can utilize free agency not going after a trade versus free agency I mean I don't know who's out there besides Hendrickson but there's got to be others.....

Yes but you still need to draft one that doesn't mean he won't in year one have seven to 10 sacks and easy E takes the next step But yeah I'm not giving up the house for Max Crosby or someone like him I just think that would be going backwards You need more money and assets to fix so many holes on your team the option two is the best bet...

It's Bain or Bailey if they draft high enough to get one. I suspect that they get an edge in the draft or a top corner.

Same here but Bain is likely a top 5 pick at this point. He's not falling to either of Dallas' spots. And is he worth trading both 1sts to move up for?
Real pickle here ...........but you are exactly right. So you would NOT go up and get him with two 1s. What about our first #1 and 2027 2nd?

Option 1 I could see because we do trades.

Option 2 I can't see because we don't sign expensive free agents.

Option 3 IMO is re-signing Clowney and drafting a DE, probably a first-rounder with one of our two first-round picks.

David Bailey and Eze manning the two OLB spots in Rex Ryan’s 34 D. :p
I can agree with this. Don't know if it has to be Ryan, but an aggressive 3-4 is our best defensive scheme option with Quinnen, Clark and Odighizuwa as our DTs and Thomas as a backup DT. Right now, that is the strength of the defense, so we don't need to weaken it by playing a 4-3.

I am a little worried about Hendrickson due to his age
I am thinking he might have only one year of peak production left

Dont rule out Bradley Chubb. There were rumors we were interested when the trade deadline approached. Probably carries a 4th round value, so swapping GB's 1st for Miami's 2nd and 4th probably gets that done

Probably lean more towards Hendrickson for that Dak window over trading for Crosby. I would also draft his eventual replacement and start them as a rotational piece

We can just use Kenny Clark, our terrific edge depth and Eberflus schemes.

We don’t need any of these guys

I’d love to trade for Crosby but it would take bit of this years firsts.

Both of our firsts next years are on lockdown beside the Q trade gives the Jets the better of our two firsts next year and that means we can’t include either of them in another trade in the meantime

I don’t want any part of Hendrickson

So, it’s use a first this year and bring in the best edge free agent we can. Unfortunately rhe top one is Phillips and he is not very good.

sign a quality veteran de like hendrickson....and when the draft board falls right...turn in the card.
im not interested in giving up multiple picks for just part of the problem.
we need more than just a de.

It needs to be a vet and not rely on a draft pick. Go get Crosby or Hendrickson.
agree, we'll see and hear how great he is going against our BAD OL in practices, come out during the season and the rookie won't be doing much going against REAL nfl talent

Do not trade for a Edge when you can get one in FA.

We have enough holes to fill and need all the draft capital we can get.
