I’m gonna enjoy watching Dak with no Tyron Smith and a bunch of holes at OL to fill when he gets his new contract..

going 5-1 with this roster is no big deal for a guy who can’t throw past 30 yards consistently…

Dak beating bad teams and losing to good teams is no different than the Kellen years
Are the Lions considered good or bad? A win over the Lions would give Dak 4 wins against NFC playoff teams.

These numbers always generate sticker shock but are just the going rate for franchise quarterbacks which dak unquestionably is despite what many here think or say.

55-60 million? That is outrageous.
No. The cap is going to explode now that the NFL is fully exploiting broadcast whenever they please --- Monday night triple header? On Christmas day? Games every TH? Lots of Saturday gams?

The league just took Christmas from the NBA. Gonna be so much money that any contract is going to look small in a couple of years.

Trade him for picks and start Trey Lance
This genuinely has more chance of working out than giving 60M/yr to a mid QB like Dak but his delusional fanboys don't want to hear it. They don't care if the team they supposedly root for is in cap hell as long as golden boy secures his bag, such good fans.

Mid QB in the MVP race. Ok that makes sense.

Much deserved my butt........ I would rather they wait until after the season ends to even consider it. Another 1 and done doesn't earn him squat in my opinion.
Not defending Dak here, but if you look at his numbers, he currently is in the top 5 in almost every statistical category for QBs.

That does earn him an extension at the current market rate.

Now if the Cowboys disagree, they can let Dak play out the last year of his contract in 2024 and let him hit the market as an unrestricted free agent in 2025 and roll with Lance.

But we all know that is not going to happen, dont we.

Cant...............Dak has a no trade clause in his contract as well as a no franchise tag clause.

You either pay Dak his money or you let him walk as an unrestricted free agent.

Those are the only two options available.

The No-Trade doesn't benefit Dak any.

There's a $60+ million dead cap hit next year.

Dak is due 29 million in base.

He get 5 million roster bonus in March.

If we cut him, he gets nothing. But Dallas saves $34 million in cap.

So a Trade helps Dak keep his salary for 2024. But the time is short.

Dallas saves the same if he's cut or traded.

June 1 cut or June 1 trade:

2024 Dead Cap: $25,455,000
2025 Dead Cap: $36,460,000

2024 Cap Savings: $34,000,000

He's too expensive for 2024.

That cap hit is insane.

If he was going to Pro Bowls every year, winning All Pro awards, winning playoff games....then yes.

He ranks behind Kirk Cousins.

Teams dont release QBs that are in the running for league MVP.

Dak knows this, the Cowboys know this, and the rest of the league knows this.

The no trade clause is highly valuable to any player, why do you think they insist on that being in their contract? This prevents Dallas from getting ANY compensation at all by unloading Dak and it protects Dak in that he cant be sent packing to a cellar dweller like the sorry arse Titans in the middle of the night.

Just as valuable is the no franchise tag clause. Dak cant be kept off the open market and it forces the Cowboys to make a decision, you either pay Dak market or you lose him. You naming Lance the new starter with 6 total games of NFL experience?

Dak and his agent both know that aint happening and Dallas has too good of a record to get a pick high enough to draft a replacement franchise QB.

You either pay Dak or you blow the whole team up and suffer through some lean years until you can draft another QB in the top 5.

Jerry aint going to do that, he has to keep the team relevent. You may think Lance might be that guy, but with 6 games total experience you rolling the dice and betting everything on him? Again, dont think Jerry is going to do that, too big of a risk and if Lance aint the guy you just nuked your whole team into oblivion.

Jerry cant risk that and Dak and his agent both know it.
